Has anyone stayed at the Gaylord Palms?

We have not but my neighbors did and they said it was a really nice hotel and would definately stay there again.

Pros- the Atrium is stunning! The staff exceptional

Cons - The pools are disproportionally plain compared to the rest of the property, the sit-down restaurants all quite pricey for dinner.

Tips - The Emerald Bay rooms DEFINITELY worth the extra $$.
One of the restaurants has a dinner buffet that's terrific. I forget which one, (Italian?) It was about $24 IIRC.

My take overall - I think there are better choices in this price range. (JW Marriott, Grand Cypress)

just my $.02

Stayed there with my family for two nights last summer, this is after touring the resort the year before. It IS a beautiful hotel, no doubt about it. I was disappointed as we couldn't get the atrium rooms but were paying $129 a night so no complaints. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it for families. While the resort is stunning, there were lots of conventions going on while we were there so it just didn't have that "family vacation feel" to it. The restaurants are very pricey as Mark said. We did eat at the Mediterranean themed buffet and it was really good, tons and tons of variety. This is jmo but if you are going with children, I would find a more family oriented hotel. It was great for the experience but I wouldn't return. JMO!

We stayed at Gaylord Palms at the beginning of the month. It is an excellent hotel with a very good location right outside the Disney maingate.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are first class, very comfortable. We were in the Emerald Bay section, and had an atrium view room and a Florida view room. Both were nice.
