We are thinking of staying there over Christmas.......any opinions?
thanks !!
:p

It was nice. Clean, attractive room, friendly staff. I don't remember much about amenities, but I left feeling that it was a good value. My girlfriend enjoyed it, too. She suggested that we stay there next time we stay off-site.

We stayed there about 3 years ago and thought it was an okay place. They had at that time a continental breakfast, I don't know if they still have that or not. There have been several discussions on this in the past and maybe you could try a search of the DL boards and see what they have to say. I remember there being some really good things said about this hotel but don't remember the details. :D

We stayed there last week, and it was very nice. Not a Hilton, but great for a moderate hotel.

You can easily walk back and forth to the parks, and there is a shuttle. If the bus fills, they send another one.

All the staff was friendly and cooperative.

There is still a breakfast buffet. The only complaint with that was it is served in the pool area, and there are not enough seats. I also worried that a little one would wander into the pool. You can easily bring back food to your room.

There was a good variety in food. It was higher quality than most, including croissants and nice bagles and muffins.

The rooms were good sized, and nicely decorated. There are shutters on the windows, which make it nice and dark. The rooms are pretty quiet as well. Our room was near the ice machine/steps and we barely heard anyone. When we stayed at the Hawtorne we could hear people all over the floor, and above and below.

I would definitely stay there again (and wish I hadn't listened to others about the Hawthrone and stayed the last three days). I wish it were a little closer, but it is really not that bad a walk.

We have reservations for the Candy Cane Inn in March based in part on the good reviews this motel has received on this board.

Travelhero.com has some nice pictures and quite a few reviews:

Mouseplanet also has several reviews:

It sounds like it is one of the nicer off-site properties within walking distance, although it does have an exclusive shuttle that runs every half hour.

I have stayed twice and really like it alot. It is a pretty motel with not large but well decorated and comfortable rooms. The continental breakfast is really good with a decent selection. The staff has always been very nice. I have used the shuttle and done some walking. It is a fast 5 minute walk for me. Everyone we have recommended it to has been pleased.

thanks for the replies. We have actually considered staying here over the years but it has always been sold out. The rate for Thankgiving is $82-92 per night and the Hilton Anaheim (our usual) is $249........so makes some sense.

The pictures of the rooms look really cute. This trip is a little more on budget since we are going to be on vacation in Sept at WDW....:p

DH and I stayed at the Candy Cane Inn in May and we loved it. I noticed CBR in your signature and thought that I would mention that the Candy Cane Inn very much reminded me of CBR (without the beach and hammocks!) so if you liked CBR, you will love the Candy Cane Inn! Have a great trip! :D :bounce: :D

I just wanted to say that we LOVE the Candy Cane!! This is the only place we like to stay when we go to DL. I think you would love it too! Have a great trip!

Also, many of the other moderatly priced hotels have a "group shuttle" - meaning they pick up and drop off at multiple hotels. Candy Cane has there own bus at 1/2 hour intervals. It isclose enough to walk, too!

their own shuttle is worth it.......sharing would suck.
thanks again for all the replies......:D
