Has anyone stayed at the Alpine Inn?

I stayed here with my brother back in 2005 and we liked it, but I think the south entrance is now closed but even more scary is that there are a few reviews that mention cockroaches!

Before our trip to WDW last month this would have been a deal breaker but to be honest we came back to Coronado Springs to find a HUUUGE cockroach in the tub and the front desk just said yep, the rain brings them out. It wasn't a huge deal, but I was wondering if anyone here has been there recently and can calm my fears since both it and the prospect of it being too far might be enough to be a dealbreaker, lol!

I've stayed there & didn't have any problems except for the looooooooooong walk. The room I stayed in was clean (no bugs!); that was in 2008.

I've read some negative reviews on other sites, I considered that motel last trip but after looking at the long walk I changed my mind.

In the pictures the beds even look saggy and old.

Thats right, they closed off the south entrance didn't they? Could you tell me about how long the walk is? Last trip we stayed at the Carousel Inn which was right across the street but we are both healthy and in our 20's so a half mile or so isn't a big deal at all, even after a long day at the parks.
