Just wondering how it is on the scary mode....what about on the pre-teen level. I have about 10 kids BEGGING me to take them and its rate at R.......I can remember being that age and begging to be taken to the Nightmare on Elm Street movies.....I don't mind taking them AFTER I get reviews on it and if the parents are okay with it.

I bet J-C will want to sleep in your bed for a week after seeing that movie! Just the ad's scare me!

BTW...I sent you a PM girlfriend! ;)

Edit: Opps, double post, tried to delete, wouldn't let me??

Yes, and I LOVED IT!!! But..

It is EXTREMELY gory. Blood everywhere, they don't skimp on it. It also has a sex scene.

I'm a scary movie freak. I love them :)

The gore I think will be fine...thats what they WANT to see  How bad is the sex scene? I may have to take him out during that.

It's mocking high school sex, the guy treats the girl horribly, and the thing is over in five seconds. It is in the first 15 minutes of the movie. Here is the official description for the R rating:

Rated R for pervasive strong horror violence/gore, gruesome images, sexuality, drug use and language.

They also smoke pot, I forgot about that one until I read the rating description.

Thanks Michelle and EP! I'm going to read the detailed description. I don't really mind J.C. seeing it, I can remember when I was his age and wanted to see Nightmare on Elm Street so badly! I loved those movies, all of my friends did and we were J.C's age.

I know my DS would say he'd want to see it too but then we'd have a bedmate for the next 10 years! My DS is 8 though & that's much too young to see anything like that!

(Sent you another PM girlfriend.....can't e-mail right now.) ;)

I saw it, on a IMAX no less....Yeah there is lots of blood, but its the fake squirting up real high kind of blood, your kids will love it...LOL

As for me, I liked it. I am a big fan of the original movies, so this just was another addition to the movies for me....plus it will tell u all about Jason and Freddy and there history...great for the kids who dont know alot about them.

plus it will tell u all about Jason and Freddy and there history

Does it tell you anymore than we already know from earlier movies? If so, I might have to see it just for that!

I won't let my 11 yo see it, because she would end up in my bed with me and there just isn't room. I remember sleeping with my mom and dad after I saw Halloween when I was 10!

For me I found it more funny then scary, guess after years of watching Freddy and Jason amongst other "horror films" I am immune to the scary factor.

There is blood, nudity (boobies), sex at several places (one ends with a little twist (again I found it funny). I am not sure I would bring preteens but when I went to see it there were several in the theatre as well as a about 6, 4 & 18 month old.

There is no way I would allow my 10 year old to see that movie.

As for me, one Jason movie years ago was enough for me.

I found it more funny than scary, which strangely is what I look for in a good horror movie..

I went on Sunday and I WILL NEVER EVER GO AGAIN to a movie on a Sunday..

People don't know how to be parents anymore, there was kids there from 2-7 and it was rediculous.

If you can find a babysitter or a grandparent don't bring your little brat to the movie where theres nudity and violence

I did love the movie though and can't wait to see the alternate ending.

As a child I was taken to the drive-in movie theater quite often during the summer, with my parents, and many times the movies were horror ones. I slept for years with the covers over my head, had nightmares, etc. I would NEVER TAKE MY CHILD TO A HORROR MOVIE, they are rated R for a REASON and IMHO they are NOT suitable for CHILDREN to watch!!!!! My children knew not to even ASK to see an R rated movie, and I won't allow my grandchildren to see one in my home either nor would I even THINK about taking them to see one at the theater.

I think that it depends on the child. I don't let my son see any 'R' rated movies only because it makes things simpler for me ;) but I am slowly introducing him to horror movies because he's interested and I remember how much I enjoyed them when I was his age. For example, last Halloween we watched Halloween together and he was 9 at the time. There is also a really nice little movie on video right now called Lost Voyage that I'll probably let him watch next.

This movie does sound rather intense though. If you go would you post your thoughts? I like horror movies too but I'm not too sure about this.

Like others said, it was more comedy than truely scary but that is from an adult perspective. I like horror movies but more the kind that really scare you, this one disappointed me. The sex scene would be enough for me to not allow a pre-teen to watch but I did see many 10-12 year olds in the theater. DH heard one mother complaining on her way out that she wanted her money back because she was mad her child saw the sex stuff but it is rated R and that is for a reason. Personally, I would wait til you could rent it and skip over some of the scenes you wouldn't want them to see.

Does it tell you anymore than we already know from earlier movies? If so, I might have to see it just for that!
I didn't really learn anything new but it does show you things that you have only really heard about such as Jason drowning when he was at the camp and Freddy before he was burned (maybe they did show that before, I'm not sure). IMHO, if I had it to do over I would just wait until it came out on dvd. We spent WAY more money than it was worth. But, it was fun to hear Kelly Rowland say the F word ;) .

Thanks everyone....I'm really turning against taking the kids....I think I'm definatly going to say no to other kids. They can take that up with their parents if they want to go so badly. I think the reason I asked is because I can remember so easily how badly I wanted to go at the same exact age. We begged and begged and begged until we found someone to take us to see Freddy in one of the Nightmares. Its actually one of the funny memories from my childhood. Freddy movies were just a huge part of the 80s!

I don't know I got a note about a birthday party for J.C. this Friday night and then he has a swimming party on Saturday so my hopes is that he won't push the movie or might even forget about it with all the other going on. That way we can wait until we can rent it and John and I can watch it first.
