Has anyone rented specialty priced cash weeks through RCI?

RCI has timeshares available for cash via "Extra Vacation Getaways" and "Last Call Vacations". I see them when I take the link from the DVC website. Has anyone ever booked a week that way?

DVC does say:
"Specially Priced Cash Weeks
In addition to booking with Vacation Points, Members can also make cash-only reservations at select RCI Resorts."

I haven’t, but my sister did while a RCI member. I’ve looked at them and been tempted to do some of the $199 ones, but just prefer to book RCI using my DVC points.

I haven’t but hope to over the winter as a way to get away each month while remote learning and working. Seems like would be a horrible use of points to pay for a week I could get for a few hundred.

Most were awesome or, at least, "as expected." One was terrible but RCI was kind enough to move us to a different resort, down the road. We've been timesharing for 20+ years and generally research RCI destinations through the Timeshare User's Group Resort Reviews. (Access to Reviews is subscription/fee-based. $15 for the first year and less for multi-year renewals, I think?)

We generally book "cheap" (as low as ~$249 for a full week stay) and keep our expectations minimal: "Is it safe/clean? Is it close to stuff we want to do or see?" Can't go wrong at that price! I think our most expensive week was in HI for a wedding. We paid top dollar (~$1200/week?) but were already familiar with the property.

Best tip I could give: Play with RCI's interface!

• Search the inventory! Search often as inventory changes.
• Understand what RCI's ratings (e.g. "Gold Crown") mean.
• Read the Resort Information tabs for info on added fees, parking, etc.
• Do consider that the Unit photos will often be from a property's best/largest unit types and may not reflect the actual unit type you are booking. (That is, the photos are from the "Presidential" unit types ... not the standard layout/furnishing.) Read the unit configuration carefully to determine if the unit you are booking has a full kitchen, laundry, jetted tub, bed configurations, etc.
