Has anyone recently gone to TOTW just to see the fireworks?

I’ve been looking at my fireworks pictures and I really like the view from up there. Don’t need/want food, happy to have a drink. Has it been possible to go up without the party they have?

They let us up about 30 minutes before the evening show started. We were able to stay outside and purchase drinks inside that we took out with us.

That's great, just what I hoped for. We will be staying at VGF. We have the 4Th floor of the Contemporary as alternate plan.
Thank you!

Is the party event on every night? Or is it just the TOTW lounge as it used to be some evenings? We've never actually been up and were hoping too this March but don't really fancy the party.

Off topic but out of curiosity where was the original place where you found your photos in your sig? Contemplating switching in the future :P

On the DVC website it says that Villain's Lair is open from 6PM to midnight daily aside from certain blockout dates like July 4th and NYE and etc. Haven't been up there either yet though. I heard people typically buy drinks up there earlier in the day to guarantee a spot and then return around fireworks time without having to pay/be a part of the Wicked Wind Down.

One other question - if we only want to see the fireworks and not partake in the lounge or its features do we still need to stop by the podium on the first floor to get on the list?

As far as I understand you still need to get put on a waiting list just to go up.. but priority is given to those who have eaten/dined there earlier in the day. It's not a free for all to just go up to the top.

Yes, you can’t go up until you check in. If the party is sold out that night, then there could be a waitlist.

If you just want to see fireworks, then go there shortly before they start because they let more people up then

That was not my recent experience. We were told that if we left, we would not have any priority to come back since we were not there as part of the event.

Those who pay for the event get the priority, but not sure walks up do because we did not get that advantage.

Interesting, they may have changed that because I'm pretty sure I heard on dis podcasts they used to keep their receipts and then go up later but that may have been prior to the start of Villain's Lair

I visited for Wicked Wind-down event during thr first month they reopened in July and during that, you could come back with it if you left and would be left up because you did the paid event,

During my last visit, they had room For us to get a drink and food but doing so did not give us priority when if we wanted to come back later. Had we done the paid event, we definitely would not be turned away since we had paid for the table.

Villians Liar is the name of the lounge…it is not the name of any of the special events. So, those who pay for the events definitely have priority with their receipt but not sure those that just show up and allowed up because there is room are given the same priority.

Then again, we may have just been given the wrong info...we ended up not trying to go back because we were running later than we thought so we ended up just watching fireworks from the CR deck instead.

California Grill and its bar in CR still works that way - you can dine or have drinks there early in the evening, leave, and use your receipt to return to that outdoor viewing area later. Maybe that’s what they were referring to?

No problem at all - this thread right here https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...nature-self-created-for-all-to-enjoy.3770739/

I did the Wicked Wind Down on February 10 recently, and had a great time. I did the package because I wanted to guarantee admission to see the fireworks, but that night, there were about 10 people I saw who came up without reservations just to see the fireworks.

If you do the package, there's a separate balcony on the opposite side of TOTW lounge from the entrance that is just for people with the package, and the other balcony (near the entrance) is for everyone else. I confess I also appreciated have a much less crowded balcony with which to see the fireworks!

Planning on going to TOTW next month while staying at Jambo house, just to see the fireworks (not going to buy a package or anything) so if folks are interested I'm happy to report back.

Going to book wicked wind down or enchantment at the top dessert party for May. Are they basically the same thing?

We went up to the viewing area in December to watch the Christmas fireworks. There was a line at the podium, but they didn't request any information other than confirmation of our membership. We would not have been allowed into the lounge, there was someone at that door checking reservations. However there was plenty of room outside and we had no issues going up about 30 min early. Just BYOB :)
