Okay I will admit I am a dog lover but NOT a fan of race car driving. I picked up this book yesterday because it had a cute Golden on it. When I began reading it I could not put it down. I read it all last night and I loved it. Sure I kind of glossed over the racing parts but it is written from the dog's perspecitve and it was everything I imagined my dog would think and say if he were able to communicate his thoughts etc. Of course I cried myself to sleep in the end but I really was surprised how much I liked. it.

I loved it too! I'm a sucker for a dog story. :goodvibes I pitched it to my book club to read, but got no takers. Oh, well.....

It's a book I was trying to decide on. Sounds like a winner! (I, too, was worried about too much racing in it.)

Honestly, there are few things I find more boring than racing but IMHO it was really only secondary in the story except for some of the messages delivered in the book. If you have owned a dog (or not) it really is a great book. I honestly felt that if my dog through out his life could communicate his thoughts that they would be exactly what the author captured in the book and I especially identified with the end. Trust me I cried so much my nasal passages were swollen and I had to sit up for the rest of the night to be able to breath. LOL. If you are unsure just read the first couple of pages...that is what hooked me.

It is hard for me to be objective if you have not owned a dog or are not a dog lover do you think others might like it? I tried to get my DH to read just the first chapter but I think it hit to close to home and he is a chicken.

DH read it and loved it. He was offering it to me in front of his friend, who swooped in and took it :scared1: It's been a few months, I'm going over to get that book back :woohoo:

I'm a dog lover and my DH is a racing fan so it sounds like a great fit :thumbsup2

thanks for the reminder to get it back ;)
