It is a book about reincarnation. I saw the authors on one of the morning shows. It is a true story about a little boy who at age 2 claimed he had been a fighter pilot in WWII and research was done to support many of the details he gave his parents. I had a VERY similar experience with my son when he also was 2 years old.

My mom just finished it. She was telling me about it, and spoke very highly of it.

I saw the boy's story on unsolved mysteries a few years ago. That is when I started seriously thinking about reincarnation. I was also taught that it wasn't true but now I truly believe in it. I am questioning a lot about my religion and the unknown. I have read tons of books about reincarnation.

My son was two years old and he was very verbal....very very well spoken. Anyway I used to see him talking to someone and I figured ...okay I can deal with this, I majored in psych he has an imaginary friend. I asked what he was doing and I was VERY careful not to ask any leading questions. He said he was talking to his friend Rick. I said oh, he said he knew Rick from before and that he was waiting to come down. He also said hat he knew auntie( my sister) and grammie( my mil) from before but that he had PICKED "you and daddy come to". I took it with a grain of salt but then he started telling me about Rick. (keep in mind I knew nothing about reincarnation at this time). He said he was in the war with Rick , they were in the army and that my son was a general and Rick was a Sergent( I did not even know which rank went with which branch of the armed forces I had to ask my dad). He said Rick saved his life. I asked him how and he said he was drunk and throwing up and on his back and Rick turned him over and kept him from inhaleing(his word) the throw up. I must say that my son NEVER was allowed to watch violent tv shows I was a stay at home mom and monitored EVERYTHING he watched or did. NO guns nothing. AND both my husband and myself do not drink. Pehaps a glass of wine on a holiday but NEVER did my sonsee anyone drunk much less know that they could die by aspirating vomit!!

When I saw the story on tv about this other child and heard him say that he "picked his parents" my head snapped up because it was exactly the same thing my son said. My son is now 21 and remembers NONE of this and yet at the time he had related the story and said the same things to me about picking me many times( I NEVER prompted him). After this happened I went out and read some books on reincarnation. What I learned in a nutshell is that kids who are extremely verbal at an early age can tell about past life because they have the vocabulary to be able to relate the info but by the age of 4 or 5 the memory fades. Kids who do not speak well at an early age cannot tell what they remember because they do not have the words. Of course there is much more to it than this but it is facinating. My son did and said many many other things that were beyond his years or scope or experience.

Let me know if you like the book, I still have not gotten it yet and I do have a Barnes and Noble gc I want to use up. Also, if you are interested after you read it, I can give you a few other titles that deal with the subject.

Not yet. I Amazoned it to my father who's big into reincarnation. I'll read it after he finishes.

When my son was little (about 3 or 4) he used to talk about his "other parents, that he had before us." I don't remember much detail, but it spooked me a little, though I attributed it to his imagination. Kind of odd, though. Sometimes even now he'll say that he did something before he was born, when he was in heaven.

I'd kind of like to read this book. I saw the interview on the Today Show.

I think that lots of times when kids say things we chalk it up to imagination but when they say things they have no way of knowing then we need to look further.

What an interesting story! True that a little kid would not know about choking on his vomit. Really makes you think doesn't it?

I did read the book and thought it was fascinating. I have always believed in reincarnation and I really feel like I experienced first hand with my daughter.

My daughter was also very verbal from an early age. Started talking in almost full sentences when she was 1. When she was 3 we were playing with her Elmo stuffed animal and she said that Red used to be her favorite color. I asked her when that was because she always said Pink was her favorite. She said, "you know, before I picked you and Daddy to come to". I asked her when that was, was it when she was a mermaid? (at this point I thought we were just playing around- she was always pretending she had another life before us- was a mermaid, a fairy, etc.) She said, "no mommy, in my real old life. I used to love red because the nurses at the hospital would cut me out red paper hearts and hang them by my bed and my sisters always brought me red roses when they came to visit me- plus, brian would would make me Red Velvet Cake every year on my birthday and our anniversary." She then sighed and started playing with another toy.

I just looked at her in amazement and couldn't believe what I was hearing. I knew she had no knowledge of a hospital, she had never been in one except for her birth. We didn't know a single person named Brian, and she had never tasted or even heard of Red Velvet cake before. I had to call my husband at work and tell him what happened.

He came home that night and asked her if she wanted to help him make Red Velvet cake for dessert. She said no, because Red Velvet was special and was only to be served on birthdays and anniversarys.

She had a few other episodes that were equally strange and facsinating at the same time. She is now almost 7 and I ask her every once and awhile if she remembers that conversation and she says no. I truly believe she is a reincarnated spirit- I just wish I could figure out who it was.

Hey, I want to read this book. Does anyone have the author? I can't seem to find this book at my local library.

thanks.
