Has anyone "re"booked a David's DVC rental as cash with the dining plan offer?

We had rented through David's for a March 21st arrival and obviously are part of the closure cancellations. David's has advised if we re-book with the owner that had original reservation with for this summer and there are additional closures that we will lose the ability to re-book or take advantage of their credit (still no details how it works or what time frame they will be good for).

Therefore, we are looking at booking a new "cash" reservation for this summer with the free dining offer, but have wondered how that is handled since we are not the DVC owner of our original reservation. Plus we have our 8-day tickets already.

Just curious if anyone has done this yet and what their experience has been.

I am also curious about this from the opposite angle. We had an existing reservation end of April that we decided to rent out via Davids. When we rented it we changed the name on the reservation to the rentor's names. Would we qualify for the dining plan even if we arent named on the reservation we booked?

I can tell you as a renter we were able to get the free dining offer, as our name was on the cancelled reservation. we received an email from Disney. If you haven’t received such an email, I doubt you can

Did you have a set amount of days park tickets? If so, how did they handle that with the new reservation? Did they credit or just roll into the new package?

The free dining offer is for anyone with a canceled reservation. As long as your name was on it, you can book that as a cash guest,

It doesn’t require any involvement of the owners as this offer has nothing to do with using the membership.

They just made sure that DVC reservations were eligible

You still have to buy tickets, that is what I have read. But, you can save those 2 day tickets for another Trip.

We have 8 day park hopper tickets, but had to purchase Additional 2 day tickets at least to get the package deal.

I did not know this! Finally some joy from (potentially) losing money on my DVC rental :)
