a seperate suitcase filled with just house supplies?? We are renting a house and I was thinking of taking a smaller piece of luggage and filling it with supplies such as coffee, filters, bars of soap, dryer sheets, powdered laundry soap, etc. Is this smart, or is this just asking them to open my luggage and make sure there's nothing strange in there??:confused3 Then we would have an extra piece of luggage for souveniers!!:cool1: There are six of us going and we can get away with getting all our stuff in 4-5 pieces of luggage and not paying any extra fees! So is this doable or should I just pay more down there for household stuff??

When we rent a house I always take dish soap, laundry soap, bath soap, spices, coffee, filters, teabags, etc. Even though we go grocery shopping in FL for food, I just hate to pay for full-sized things that I know we won't use all of. Not sure that I'd put them all in one bag, though. I usually use masking tape to seal the liquids closed, then put them in ziplock baggies and tuck them in among the clothes. I'd be afraid that with only bottles, boxes, etc in the bag and nothing to pad them with that they'd bump and break.

Not exactly house supplies, but an entire bag of:
*medicines: anything you could think of! midol, tylenol, cough drops, band-aids, neosporin, ear drops, eye drops, hand sanitizer, shout wipes, samples of tide in case we needed to do laundry, snuggles dryer sheets, baby powder, "feminine products," contact case, spare glasses, contact solution, mouth wash, floss, etc.
It was obnoxious, but I never needed anything on the entire trip!! The suitcase itself was about the size of a carry-on for a plane ride. It wasn't as large as our clothing bags, but it was still very well packed! We made a list MONTHS in advance: extra flip-flops in case a pair breaks, blister meds, batteries, mugs, spare contacts, cell chargers, camera case, plastic bags for dirty laundry and wet clothes, EVERYTHING!!
&it wasn't an inconvinence to pack along, either. We have zero children, so I can only imagine how many more things one could think of to pack when you add on people, but our bag was pretty well stocked!! & VERY useful on the days when my DH needed a bandaid because I TOLD him to wear socks w/ crocs & he didn't & it was blister CITY!! :rotfl:

Hopefully, this helps? :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the posts! We do plan on stuffing the thing silly, but cushioned with other items!! I just didn't want the xray guys at the airport wondering what the heck we are doing! I was hoping that they seen this often enough, not to wonder!!
