Has anyone mastered the art of folding a sportcoat into a suitcase?

Turn one shoulder inside out and slip that side inside the other normal shoulder. Then fold neatly and put on top layer. Key to keeping it as good as you can is to put it in at the last minute and get it out as soon as you can.

I've had good results with this method. Here's a video version of it:.

We use a garment bag for formal wear. It has hooks at the top for a hanger and a strap across the middle to hold it in place. You simply hook your hanger items on there, snap it shut, then criss cross the arms in front of the chest. The whole bag folds in half and zips shut.
Once we get to our hotel precruise, I open the bag and unfold it so everything is at least just laying flat for the night. Then in the am I fold it back up.
So really it's only folded for the ride to the airport, the flight and a couple hours again the morning we sail. Once I hang it all up in the closet, you'd never know it spent that much time folded.

I put my shoes for formal night in the zippered pockets above each shoulder, also dh's belts.
With the current 30% off coupon, SUNTAN30, it's a bargain. We have 2 of them, one for us and one for our teen boys.

Our suitcase ( hard one with wheels ) has a zip compartment on the top that you can place a jacket in. Otherwise we would use a suit carrier to carry it onboard.

I love the bundle wrapping method. You can really get more into your bag. I packed for 2 weeks using this method in one bag and this was with new clothes for every day.

I have used this for all our packing, I have great hopes! Will let you know how it goes when I get to the first port on Thursday

(Only downside was I got so much in the case it is 40kg :scared1:)

I have had to remove clothes and put them into my backpack to avoid overweight fees when doing this. I had one bag that was almost 20 lbs. (That's what, 9 kg?) over. Whoops.
