A dear, dear young lady who we know is getting married in about a year.

It's too long of a story to tell but she deserves whatever good in life can come her way!! She so deserves it.

Anyway, short version -- she and her fiance are in college and have no money. I have been trying to help her with a check list (she is NOT organized).

I am thinking if I can offer to help "make" thank you's or table decor etc.

I have a sizzix -- I could "emboss" on cards? Has anyone done this?

Any ideas welcome........

We made just about everything for our wedding. Menus, placecards, kids favors, table cards, program for ceremony. I will post pics in the morning, I am off to bed. They were easy. We even fixed up our invitations.

Don't mean to sidestep the question, but the disers over on the Weddings & Honeymoon board gave me some really cute ideas about how to do it ourselves for a lot of our wedding stuff. Between them and the people on the Creative DiSigns board, they made my wedding tons of Disney fun for all whe attended (THANKS AGAIN to everyone who gave inspiration or helped with ideas!)

princessdisneybelle was particularly inventive and had really good color theming! Additionally, it didn't seem like any of her projects were too $$$, but came out really cool! Maybe you could PM her to let her know you'd like her input too?

I made programs and thank you cards for my sister's wedding on the computer with really pretty paper from Target. I made a gift album for her shower and a small one for the candids taken at the reception. It's so nice that you are helping your friend.

Thanks guys!

Her family is really not in a position to help and she's kind of on her own. She's a great person and I couldn't be happier for her. We found some checklist on the web that gave an estimate for what things cost for a wedding and I thought she was going to cry. I told her not to worry as I come from a long line of crafty folks and I know I can get my sister to help with it too. I'm sure we can help her -- I just would like to get a bunch of ideas together and then show them to her and ask her to think about them.

Have a great day everyone!!

Here is what we did

Actually they were are ceremony programs. They were very easy to make. We had a Disney wedding so we were trying to keep things simple.

They would be cute as menus too though!

you guys.......I am so thankful for you guys today! Thanks for sharing.

Her wedding won't be a disney one and it will be very simple. But I just want to help her in any way I can. These are GREAT ideas!!!

Our wedding stationery featured a pencil sketch of the church on invitations. orders of service, place cards etc. They came form a commercial company but if you or a firend is good at drawing you could try something similar. Or you know those machines that take a photo and then print it like a sketch, the happy couple could get one of those done and you could scan it into a PC.

I think when there's not much $$ to go round, its reassuring that "less is more" - you only need say one prima and one colour (or 2 very thin) ribbons to make something very special and elegant :goodvibes

I make invitations and stuff for a side job (by no means, is this a solitication for work, believe me...), but I wanted to let you know that I have templates and stuff if you need to see how to set up stuff. You can make some totally elegant stuff (like Mazda said) with the idea of less is more. A little ribbon or even cheaper still is clip art or an initial like calanniebu (gorgeous stuff!!) did. I have found that if you use 12 x 12 paper you can cut it down and get 3 or 4 pieces out of one piece of paper. It is the perfect opportunity to think outside the box, so to speak.

Just send a PM if you need any help. Good luck! You are a good friend...

Thanks! Those were the first wedding invites I did and loved doing it. :-)

Also, even though it is not a Disney wedding still go check out the weddings board and ask on the dising board if you need help. Thanks to the DISigns board I had a really cute rehersal dinner invitation. I will see of I can find it.

Less really can be more.
