I'm redoing my sons room, and his bed will not have a headboard attached, and i want his room to look finished so am thinking about making a headboard my self -

If you did it how does it look - what did you use ?

Why not just buy that thick cardboard or a thin sheet of plywood and cut out the size and shape that you want and then paint it or cover it with fabric. Like if you were doing a basket ball room, you could make the headboard into half of the "ball". Just cut half a circle in the size of the width of the bed. Or for a football room, make a half field with the goal posts at the top, or you could make the whole field sideways. paint it green and then use white tape for the lines and then use scrapbook numbers for the numbers. then paint a couple of clear coats over it. For a younger kids room If they like animals you could make a barn front. You could also check out the school supplie store and online for the big wall picture sets they have and use one for the headboard. You never know what you would find. Good luck. Mum

Yes, I did. Queen size. DH cut plywood shape, I got foam, fabric, and the kit for making fabric buttons at Joann's. I sprayed adhesive on the foam, covered with the fabric, stapled to the back. DH drilled where I wanted the buttons, and I used pipe cleaners to pull the buttons through and anchor on the back.

Honestly, it turned out great, and is so much better than no headboard...

Nope, I looked and looked. I can't believe I didn't take any. The headboard isn't here at the house, so I can't take a pic. If DH heads that way, I'll ask him to get one...
