I've left my kids three times for vacation with dh and countless times for business trips. I miss the kids each and every time and look forward to seeing them again. I also enjoy spending time alone with my husband or, on business trips, time alone with myself. We also take the kids on vacations, as well. It's the best of both worlds. When we have left them they stay with my parents. As far as the kids are concerned, Momma and Poppa's house is better than WDW - the word "no" doesn't exist there! There has never been any separation issues and both girls understand that Mommy is coming back - because I always do.

This spring I am taking my older dd to WDW by herself. Baby dd and dh will be at home. It will be some great mom and me time. It sounds like the OP will get some great time with her older child, also.
