I get no responses on the DVC board. Are there minimums maybe and that's why no one replies to me?

just wondering. thanks for any advice.

We recently added one night at AKL to the beginning of our November trip. I went through David's DVC rental. They don't offer a one night option, but I sent them an e-mail asking if I could do it. They said they could in situations where an owner had the correct number of points to fulfill the request. I filled out the application with my requested resort, and they confirmed availability within a few hours.

I don't know about working with an owner directly, because this is our first time renting points.

do you know if they do two nights? t hanks. on their site, but not sure of .........

I would just send them an e-mail and tell them what you're looking for. I'm sure if they can accommodate you, they will!

I did rent for 1 night from this board....When someone has points for rent, just ask if they will rent the # of points you need for the night.:thumbsup2

I have rented several times for just one and two nights. Send me a pm and I will send you the contact info for the person I rented from.

It's not really about the number of nights, it's about the number of points needed for those 1 or 2 nights. If an individual owner or a company like David's has that number of points that they are trying to get rid of, then you should be able to make the reservation, subject to availability.

DVC has no minimum number of nights or points you must use.

We have...you just have to find someone who has a smaller amount of points they're trying to get rid of.

I have. I found someone who had close to the number of points I was going to need available and sent them a PM.

Yes, sometimes members want to unload all their points in as few transactions as they can. If someone has 300 points for rent they will want someone who wants a majority of them so they don't have to make so many transactions/reservations.

It may take awhile but you probably can find someone who has just a few points they are willing to rent :)

I have rented 2 nights from David's rental. A bit more $$ than going through an individual but it was a last minute ressie and I thought it would be easier. David's was easy to work with.

It's really a matter of the owner trying to make sure that they can rent as many of their points as possible. Most people buy the number of points they will need, for the trips they will take. And lots of people plan on 7 nights, so that is roughly how many points they own. So if you only want to rent 2 nights, then they have to try to find someone who only wants 5 nights. Not as easy as the full 7. Admittedly the differing point values tweak that some, but the concept still applies.

If you get any PMs about renting points from a member, make sure you notify the Webmaster because that is against the DIS rules.

The problem is that not many members want to take on that much work for that little reward.

Plus it might be when you want to go. Points stays might not be available.
