I was reading online about this new Acai berry supplement craze and how one reporter lost 25lbs in one month after taking the supplements with a colon cleanse. I'm extremely skeptical about things like this and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it or heard about it? Here is the link:

I have these little drink packets that have acai in them. I drink them because they taste yummy, don't have aspartame (ick, for me at least) and have a really high amount of B12 and it gives me a boost of energy. I've been drinking them for a while and have slimmed down a little... mainly due to running, not to the acai:)

It's good for you, but I think it is highly overhyped.

do those really work? I've been seeing them on-line a lot hehe

This is what I think. Acai is a healthy berry that, like strawberries, blueberries, and others is high in vitamins and antioxidants. As with all fruits and vegetables they should be a part of a balanced diet. I don't, however, think they are a magical fruit that will cure all your disease and strip away pounds like a liposuction vacuum.

I think getting the juice, frozen slushes, or concentrates to eat or add to smoothies is good but don't buy into buying pills of the stuff as a weigh loss supplement. No one I know buys any other berry in pill form so why get this one?

I agree get the juice or frozen berries etc but don't buy into the pills. Fresh is best. I think the loss had more to do with the colon cleanse than the berries to be honest. Eating a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and cleansing your colon can reduce a good amount of weight as well as detox a person.
