We are going to WDW from Aug 19th - 27th

from the 19th - 25th we are at CSR....

My dad's b-day is Aug. 21st so we're going to put that into our faxed room request. Has anyone experienced special things for birthdays at the resorts?

We are staying at BC from the 25th to the 27th

You see the special thing about this is that my mom doesn't know ;) It's my parents anniversary so my dad booked BC. It will be our first stay there. We will also be including that on our fax room request. Has anyone experienced special things for their anniversary at Resorts?

Thanks

We celebrated my dh's birthday last summer at the yacht club. I sent a fax (complete with a clip art birthday cake at the top) very nicely asking for anything they could do to make his day extra special. We got an upgrade from standard to waterview. The check-in cm asked me who is favorite character is and said they would send a card up to the room on the day of his birthday. When we returned from the parks on his birthday, there was a balloon bouqet and card sitting on the table. He was so surprised.

Make sure to note that it is birthday when you make dining reservations and remind the hostess when you check in. At breakfast at 1900 Park Faire, the characters made a big deal out of his birthday and had the entire restaurant to sing happy birthday to him. He also was presented with a decorated over-sized cupcake. At Boma that evening, he also was given a beautifully presented cupcake. Besides the two restaurants on his day, I also had "birthday" listed for our Akershus reservation later that week b/c I knew he would LOVE having those beautiful Scandinavian women sing to him. Since it was a couple days after his birthday, I had forgotten totally and was as surprised as him when they appeared with a cake (not cupcake) and signed ceritificate and sang and did a little dance. It was great! Make sure to get your dad a birthday button at guest services at any of the parks -- dh wore his all week and had CMs to break into song several times. They also can call a certain number and get Goofy to sing to you -- a couple called him over to do that.

a bit 'hit and miss'.....
Kind of depends on who you get taking note of your request!

We have celebrated many occasions at Disney including our 25th Anniversary...we were at the GF and they sent up some balloons and a card which was sweet.

Our anniversary is Christmas Eve and we have spent the last 3 at WDW...usually at The California Grille. It is noted at time of booking and varies on how it is remembered. Last time they brought a special dessert to us with our names written on chocolate and Happy Anniversary alongside....small and a nice rememberance.

Good Luck! I hope they make it special!
:D

We were in the world for my birthday in October. It was noted on our reservation and on our fax, but at the resort we got no special treatment. We also picked up a birthday pin at guest services at MK. This got us lots of nice attention from CM's everywhere, including a lovely senior man (Bill, I think) at the Emporium who got on his knees and serenaded me. That was really fun. We also got complimentary dessert and card at Cindy's breakfast, and a WONDERFUL complimentary chocolate cake that evening at Le Cellier. It make this middle aged mom feel like a very special birthday 'girl'.

It really depends on who you tell it too and if their feeling "NICE" that day. We went to WDW on our honeymoon and had a lovely gift basket of food and champange along with sonme roses and a card waiting in our room upon check in. And when we went to PI we wore out mickey bride and groom hats ans we got free drinks all night!
Then the next few years we always went for someones birthday or a special reason and we got nothing. We even went for our DD 1st birthday and got nothing! I made her a shirt and everything.
But on our recent trip in Nov. We had three things going on My DD 2nd birthday was the 4th and when we returned to our room she had a wonderful bag full of goodies. Autograph book, penny book, stuffed animal key chains, and snack foods. Then on the 6th it was out ann. They sent us a beautiful bouquet or flowers with a card for a free meal at BOMA's. Then on the 8th it was my DH birthday and they sent him a t-shirt and a 6 pack of his favorite beer. And that night we ate at his favorite rest. Garden Grill they gave us a nice cake and they all sang to him.
We have luck out on trips. We either get a lot or nothing. So my advice is don't seem to obvious when telling people but tell EVERYONE! it never hurts.

My DW and I celebrated #25 at WL last May. Randall, one of the concierge staff, sent a bowl of huge strawberries and whipped cream to our room one evening. Another day he gave me a Disney pin (Disney Salutes -- Rooms & Suites) because he knew I was an avid pin collector. He also noted our anniversary on practically every PS we made. Even though we were celebrating it on one day, it "followed" us everywhere! Pixie dust on tables at Crystal Palace and a song from our server; more pixie dust, a congrats from the entire staff and a certificate from Liberty Tree Tavern; 2 free smoothies from 1900 Park Fare; an autographed balloon by all the characters at Cape May breakfast buffet... It was an amazing trip. Toward the end of the stay we kept telling people -- hey our anniversary was a few days ago, but the magic continued. What can I say -- for us Disney hit a grand slam home run for us for our 25th!

My boss is taking her children (twins) to DW on their birthday for the first time next month. We have made lots of arrangements with Disney florist to make the weekend special. Whatever the resort does, I don't know but we covered every base to make it super special!

Don't expect the resort to honor the birthday. You can arrange it all yourself over the phone.

we haven't anything done thru the resorts for special occasions, but we did book and Illuminations Cruise on one of the pontoon boats and had them add the birthday package to that for our DD's 12th birthday. It was SPECTACULAR, even skeptical DH admitted after the fact that it was worth every dime spent.
