I am considering foot surgery this summer and I have seen plenty of people who have had bunionectomies. They usually get one foot done and it is so bad they rarely go back for the second. I have heard that neuroma surgery is a lot easier with a quicker recovery. Anyone with any experience. I am fine as long as I wear flip flops and sandals but the ski boot and tighter shoes absolutely kills!

I can't really give you any specific information but my friend's husband had this done and, in his case, it has been a nightmare. His foot was bad to begin with and it is still bad. He had to have a second surgery to go in and have a ton of scar tissue removed from that formed after the neurom surgery. I'm pretty sure that most neuroma surgeries go well, but his did not.

Also, the foot is a horrible place to get injured/operated etc. It is just so hard to heal.

Its amazing the topics you find.

I was diagnosed with a nueroma from my dr. I had a cortisone shot that lasted about 3 months and came back. I went to the dr again, and they referred me to an orthopedic dr. I had my mind made up that I wanted to do the surgery so I wasnt in pain at WDW in Aug.

So I went to the Dr and he told me it wasnt a nueroma. Told me the original reason my foot hurt was a stress fracture that is now healed. I dont understand why if it was a stress fracture that the cortisone took care of it. Bottom line is he gave me a pad to wear in my shoe (that doesnt even cover the area that hurts). I asked him what we did if this didnt help and he said "I think you already have it figured out that there might not be anything we can do for it". I cried and cried , because I dont want to be the lagger on our trip. Plus I just want my foot fixed.

I would have the surgery if it was me. From everything Ive read, recoup time is about 3 weeks.

We are going to Hawaii in July so I don't want to take a chance and do it before. I will do it when I get back so I will have the rest of the summer off from work to recoop. I can't ski with the way it is now.
