Has anyone had a bone scan before?

I'm waiting for a hospital appointment to come through for a (full body) bone scan. I've just been doing some research online and scaring myself looking at the equipment they use.

Has anyone had one and are they claustrophobic at all?

I had one and didn't think it was too bad. I purposely went in tired so I would be very relaxed. It's not like an MRI where you're in a tube. It's just a machine that slowly goes up and down your body. Good luck.

This is one of the easiest tests I have ever undergone. No pain, no discomfort, and quite quick. And no waiting for results !

Piece of cake. You will do fine. They even played music I enjoyed while it was being conducted. Good luck with it. Hope the results are good.

I had a full body bone scan and it was as another poster said a piece of cake. You just lay there real still. I didn't feel closed in since it moved back and forth.

I had a full body bone scan done but it was oevr 17 years ago. I'm sure the equipment is much different now. Mine took an hour to do and I only felt claustrophobic when they did my head. If you're really claustrophobic ask if you can have a sedative.

I have, and I have also had several MRI's and CT scans. I'd take the Bone Scan over the other two any day!

My oldest has some done for a period of 3 years, for a study. She was so relaxed she fell asleep.

Thanks for the replies.

Not sure I'll want to do it without some kind of sedative especially when it goes over my head.

It's supposed to take anything from 30 - 90 mins for the actual scan.
