Has anyone gotten or planning on getting the vaccine solely because of cruising?

I have! I was not planning on getting the vaccine, but then as things get closer to opening up because of the vaccine, and how certain restrictions are being lifted for those who are vaccinated, I started to think about it. Then, when rumors started circulating that there is a very good chance that cruise lines will only allow vaccinated people onboard when they start sailing again, well...that did it for me. Fully vaccinated and ready to cruise May 9th 2022!!!

Nope, I’ll do it for my health. You might need to get a booster before may 2022. Looks like covid shots will be annual like the flu.

I got vaccinated for health reasons. I am doing one of the staycation cruises on the Magic in the UK in a couple of months. When I felt a little nervous on the day of the jab itself, thinking that this will help me get onboard that ship helped some!

Nope. If I am lucky I might cruise one week a year. I have the other 51 weeks a year to worry about being exposed to covid.

There's also the nice side benefit of not being a danger to others as a vector of the current strains or even incubator of new strains

Nope, I would have gotten it whether or not it was required to cruise. I was more worried about lasting damage from covid and passing it on to my elderly parents.

I didn't get the vaccine specifically for cruising, but now that I'm fully vaccinated, I do find myself poking around at cruises and even small ship voyages for later this summer. If I wasn't vaccinated, I wouldn't even consider cruising. It's just a happy side-benefit of being vaccinated!

Never had the flu vaccine. We didn't want anything holding us back from our travels so YES, cruises/travel were the #1 reason for getting the vaccine.
