I've used Priceline for hotels but, not airline tickets. We usually drive, but, I was wondering if anyone from Illinois has used Priceline for airline tickets, and about how much they got them for. Also, were there several connections, and also, what airport did you fly out of, O'hare or Midway???? Let me know....Thank you!

I've seen several examples of people using Priceline to fly from Chicago to Orlando. In each case they selected either O'Hare or Midway and always got O'Hare. You must agree to up to one connection. You will not get more than one connection unless you elect up to two connections. Your connection can be up to 3 hours. You must agree to depart as early as 6:00 a.m. or arrive as late as 12:30 a.m.

When are you travelling? There are some great sales going on right now and since there is no longer any bonus money for airline tickets, Priceline may not be your best option on this route.

I tried Priceline once for air from Chicago Midway to Orlando at a time when ATA was advertising a $118 rt fare. Since there are 4 of us, I figured even a $20 savings each would add up to a nice dinner or two. I went all the way to $100 rt with no takers, in fact they kept encouraging me to up my price which I didn't. We flew on ATA and had a non-stop flight at the times and dates we selected. With two little girls, that was important to us.

Southwest was recently advertising $59 each way. Maybe you should try their website. They usually also offer the same fare in October, which is my favorite time to go so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you for the info. I'll keep my eyes open on good deals from Southwest and ATA.

We used Priceline last August for a trip to Tampa. We started the bidding at $80 plus $50 from priceline. After about 10 bids and numerous changes they confirmed us for $150 round trip. We started bidding on a Friday for departure Sunday. Our trip was booked on Delta with a 30 min. layover in Kentucky/Ohio. If you have time before your trip you really have nothing to lose by bidding low and slowly working your way up to your desired price.

Just to give you another update. We just started to plan our trip for this year. I started bidding 1/12 for air line tickets for 5 to Tampa this coming June. After three bids we were just accepted for $100 plus the $50 bonus money from pricline. The bid was accepted thru US Airways.

The total with taxes that was charged to us was $629.75 round trip for 5 to fly to Tampa.

What A deal! Now it's time to bid on a car.
