Has anyone flown out of Green Airport lately?

We're leaving Friday out of Providence, and I'm reading that Logan people need to get in three hours before their flight. Is this true for Green as well? Our flight is at 3 p.m. I'm hoping that the kids can stay in school (report card day!) for at least the morning before we dismiss them. Also, how are the security checkpoints? Should the teens not bring their backpacks for fear this will be too time consuming? We're trying to check as much as possible to avoid this.

Thanks so much for your responses,

We left out of TF Green on a Wednesday the 20th of march at 11am. We left our house in mass at 7:45am and was thereby 9:00am and was able to check luggage in at the door with the skycap. then headed for security make sure if your kids have Id's they have them with them as you will NEED them!! at the beginning of the security area as well as at checking in luggage and getting on the plane!!

When going through security back packs are fine, I had one. If the security people need to do a bag check they will have you take off your shoes and put them through. happened to me as I had a bunch of change in a change purse!
What airline are you flying?

Only one bag and one personal item is allowed!!

For more details try the TF Green web site

I've had many family members fly down from Providence within the last few weeks, and no one has complained of any difficulty at the airport. On the other hand, it took me 2 hours standing in line to check in at Logan the last time I flew from there, and that was BEFORE 9/11!!! (fortunately, I was there 3 hours early, so didn't miss my flight)

Please pardon all the questions. I didn't realize there was a skycap, that sounds painless (I hope), when you mention I.D.'s, the older boys have them, but not my l4 year old daughter (nothing with a picture on it). Will this be a problem for her? Thank you for the link, SueZ, I'll check it out. Oh, we are flying Delta.

The one thing you need to remember is that Friday is the start of school vacation (but you know that since you are traveling) so factor that in. The waits everyone is mentioning is on regular days. There will be an increase in those flying. I would call your airline for help with timing.
