I have found previous threads but they are all old. Has anyone fished at port orleans riverside?? This is something that we would love to spend an hour or two doing! Does anyone know what it costs??

I'm pretty sure it is $7 or $8 for 1/2 hour for one pole. There is a one hour rate and a family package too. The area opens at 7 and closes by 1. The info on www.portorleans.org was correct when we were there in May. My boys loved it and it was a nice distraction while I was doing a load of laundry.

We did it about 2 years ago. I wouldn't plan on catching anything, but surprisingly enough I did catch one.

We took the girls fishing there about 7 years ago and they had a blast. At the time the bait was hot dogs. We did catch a few blue gills, and it was a fun experience for relatively inexpensive.

My son did it a few years ago and loved it. In fact, the fishing hole was one of the main selling points for us to stay at POR. My son was sad that we were not going camping that summer because of the WDW trip. He loves fishing. I figured POR was the best of both worlds. He caught a blue-gill, with hot dog bait. I recommend it if you have a little bit of time to spare in the morning and you think that your kids would enjoy it.

Hot dog bait??? I've never heard of that. Here in Minnesota, if you want to go fishing for sunnies or bluegills, we use something my dad always taught me. Canned corn. Yep. Works like a charm. Never did it at POR, but it might be worth a shot. I think it's the yellow color and maybe the smell.
