Has anyone ever upgraded your room and kept free dining promo?

I'm booked in at the Contemporary for Sept 2017 and we got free dining, but with a garden view room. My daughter is obsessed with Cinderella's castle (she screams with excitement every time she sees a picture of it) so our entire reason for staying at the Contemporary was to get a theme park view.

When I got the free dining, I spoke to an agent who suggested I might be able to upgrade my room if someone else canceled their theme park view and free dining offer so I have called twice a day every day since April trying to "catch" it. Now that the free dining promo is over, I'm still being told that I might luck out and find it available if I keep calling. I'm wondering if there is any likelihood that I'll be able to upgrade to theme park view and keep my free dining, or are the agents just stringing me along? I call once in the AM between 7 and 8 and once in the evening between 6:30 and 7:30 but I haven't found an available theme park view room + free dining offer yet!

One agent did suggest things would open up around the 30 day window (Aug 7 for me) but I'm wondering - even if someone cancels, will that promo be available?

Hoping someone with experience can give me a little insight...

How much is a Contemporary theme park view at rack rate? Would you be better off getting a room discount on that room and paying for the dining plan? Just a thought.

Well, if that's the case, I guess you just hold on to the FD and keep on checking. Maybe when you check in, you can tell them how obsessively you've been checking daily and ask if they have anything available for your stay. Let them know that you're willing to pay the difference if there is something available. Good luck!

I wanted to update in case anyone comes across this post in the future... the "enchanted escape" offer showed as available this morning so I booked it! It hadn't shown as available in all the months I was checking but I randomly scored it today. Thanks for the luck @Disneylover99 it helped!!!

Lady - that is wonderful! It makes me feel vicariously happy to think of the look on your daughters face when she sees the castle from your room. All the work will be sooooo worth it!

Glad you got what you wanted. We generally stay at the Poly, but DH told me the other day that next year he wants to stay in a Theme Park View room at the Contemporary, so I'll be looking for deals too.
