We've timed the Target 90% Off Christmas merchandise sale to be on exactly January 5th for the last 5 years straight.....when do you predict Target will have 90% OFF halloween merchandise?

This is from the Mommysavers/TargetSavers website about Halloween 2010...

Target holiday markdowns usually follow a 3-3-2 schedule. Clearance merchandise goes to 50% off the day after the holiday, then 3 days later 75%. Bagged candy starts at 30% then goes to 50% and 75%. Again, 3 days after that what’s left is 90% off. 2 days after that it goes to salvage (Goodwill). If that holds true for Halloween 2010, Nov. 1st = 50% off, Nov. 4th = 75% off, and Nov. 7th = 90% off.

Ours never has anything left either. I like to go early on November 1 to buy Oreos and the multi-packs of Dorito chips.

My store never has anything left to make it to 90% off! :lmao:

I was going to say the same thing. My poor husband came up with this great Halloween idea to add to all the gaudiness we currently have in our front yard and we went to several stores yesterday before we found much of anything.

will check it out Nov. 7th for 90% Off, (maybe its our local location stuck with so much Christmas merchandise is the reason why our 90% off is not Jan 1st, but Jan 5th each year...and they have everything...including prelit $249 trees for $25! :santa:

DH, who works @ Target, says this is correct (the formula), but also said that some stores are involved in a test right now with the discounts being offered earlier (as people have posted above) to see if that increases sales.

I went to Target this morning and candy was 30% and everything else was 70%. They has about 2 isles left. I got a few things that I figured wouldn't be there when it hit 90%. 70% still isn't a bad deal!

Has anyone been to Wal-Mart lately? Wondering what their discount is. Last year I lucked out and hit it when they marked everything 90% and I got a TON of good stuff.

aw crud! I was going to stop by our Target this morning but decided to wait until tomorrow because I follow the 3-3-2 rule. I should have stopped! Maybe ours isn't one of the test stores. I'll still run out tomorrow to check and see if anything is left.

I went on Tuesday and candy was 30% and everything else was 50%. I got some princess costumes (Tiana and Belle) and a few decorations. I didn't want to chance them not being there when the discount went lower.

I am glad I went to Target! I hit Walmart after I picked my son up and they had pretty much nothing left. Last year I hit the 90% off day when I went to get the itunes deal and got a ton. Today, they had some treat bags, pencils, and things like that. No costumes or decorations. When I went to the register the guy told me everything back there was $.25. To bad there wasn't more to buy.

Just a small correction...I ran the "salvage" program at Target from HQ and candy is NOT sent to salvage. Only Super Targets and Target Fresh (smaller fresh selections) are permitted to send perishable items to donation. That is different from "salvage" and no perishable items are sent to "salvage".

I just returned from Target. Candy is now 50% off, there is a lot. A few aisles floor to ceiling, you would think they never sold any. Costumes are 70% off. Again, one side of an aisle completely full. The other holiday merchandise is also, 70% off. No more 75% off? With the change in percentage, no more 90% off?

And it definitely varies by region because right now the candy at my store isn't really on clearance yet - I think it was 15% - but that may have to do with the fact that we have not had ToT yet.

70% off today at my local Target, Gilbert, Az. I saved $149.60!!!

Here's what I got and what it cost:

Pez- haha for a well behaved three year old shopping with me. ;) $.59
Peanut butter m & m's ( much more effective then Midol- haha ) 4 bags at $1.34 each
4 pack turkey place holders $3.89
Monster finger cookie pan $2.09
Cow costume for our dog $3
then I got various costumes Woody, Buzz, cheerleader, 2 pairs fairy wings, pixie wig, army costume, super girl. The lowest priced costume was $6 and the highest was $9.

My total bill was $72.65

I'll pack all the kids costumes up for Christmas and they will be gifts for playing dress up.

So head out!!! Today's the day!

my husband works at target and corporate told them to throw away their 75% signs and start using 70% off signs, there were no mention about changing the 90% off so he assumed it will still go to 90% eventually if anything is left but no guarantees.
