We are new to Disney Cruising. We have sailed four times on the Royal Carbbean Line, our last cruise (July 2005) was in a Grand Suite aboard the Adventure of the Seas. My husband and I along with our 20 year old son, 16 year old daughter and their 11 and 6 year old male cousins will be sailing the Wonder in cabin 8016. It is a Cat 2 with concierge. Since I have never sailed Disney, I am not quite sure what to expect. We are doing a land/sea cruise with four days at sea. We will be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (rather than Grand Floridian, I think my nephews would enjoy bison rather than Mary Poppins). Can anyone tell me about this cabin or category level, or what to expect for everyone (0ther than the 20 yr old, who is a lover of all disney and going along just to see his younger cousins enjoy Disney the way he always did). Any suggestions to making my nephews experience great. As a family, our children and myself and husband have been to Disney World approximately 20 times. My nephews have only been there twice. What can I do, on the cruise, on Castaway Cay, on land, make it all that more special? Thanks!

My family and I will be in the suite across from yours (8516), and although this will be our first Dis cruise, I've learned quite a bit of info from these boards and from the years when I worked for the mouse. First off, if you are staying at the concierge level at AKL (our favorite), they have a great early morning jeep adventure where they take you out during the morning feeding and stop for long periods giving detailed information about the animals. It is only offered to concierge guests, but it is terrific. Be sure and call to get a reservation at Boma, which we think is an outstanding all you can eat buffet dinner there. As far as the cruise, you will go to the concierge desk at the cruise terminal to complete signing in, and then be escorted up to your room (assuming it's time to board). There are VHS and DVD's for loan with a movie list in the room. You have the offer of full breakfast's delivered each morning except for the last morning, and I've heard that through concierge they can book additional nights at Palo if available (you can book one night and a brunch yourself on DCL's web...do it now because it might be full already). They also handle other reservations for you like the Spa, but now that you can book online, I'm sure that many items will be sold out before we even get on the boat. There is a thread that talks about a $99.00 room at Atlantis in Nassau that will allow you full use of the pools, slides and beach, which is where our 14 and 19 y/o boys will be playing. Concierge also brings plates of fruit and cheese, cookies, etc. and other things and checks with you daily. Basically the wonderful price we are paying is really based on the room size as the concierge perks are nice but not worth the "concierge" price. Hope that helps.....
