I just booked this hotel, and got a pretty good rate (I hope!) of $139/night for a deluxe balcony room.

It looks pretty nice, but pictures can be deceiving! Any experiences, good or bad, with this place?

Hey! We're looking at a trip to DC for Columbus Day. That's the hotel we're interested in. We'd also love some input....:D

I stayed there with my grandmother, but that was 12 years ago, I know that at that time it was a VERY nice hotel, and it is a very good company still, but I haven't seen the hotel lately.

We stayed there last year. it is a beautiful hotel located just behind the air and space museum. there is a mall in the basement. They valet park your car, carry your luggage up, so you have to tip everyone. Sometimes I dont like to be forced into this situation but thats the deal there.

At another Washington hotel, we paid $25 a night for parking, so you may want to check on that.

Is it easy to walk to the A&S museum?

The last time I was there, maybe 3 years ago, it was gorgeous. I think you tend to get a good rate there bc it's off the beaten path. If I recall correctly, you could easily walk up to the National Mall & all the museums. Loews is a good chain, join their frequent guest prg., they have good benefits.

We stayed there during the 2001 summer. It is in a great location-right above a Metro stop. Not a lot of restaurants nearby but certainlyplaces to eat just a Metro Stop away.

Thanks for the replies. I did check into the parking, and it's $16/day with no in and out priveleges, or $24/day for valet parking and you can come and go. Not only that, but Washington DC had 14.5 percent taxes added on! Yikes!

We stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it. The mall underneath was not open on the weekends- at least not much of it. It was kind of eery down there! We walked to everything, our boys were 11 and 14 at the time- didn't touch the car for the 3 days we were there. Our balcony had a great view of the Washington Monument and the Ronald Reagan Airport. The kids had fun using the video camera as a telescope to watch all of the activity at the airport! Our room was beatuiful, one of the nicest we have ever had on vacation. I think you will be very pleased with your choice, Jeafl.:D
