Has anyone stayed at or know anything about the II exchange Amerisuites Vacation Club at Calypso Cay or Club Sunterra@CypressPointe? We are planning for June. Any advice about the condition of the resorts as well as location proximity would be helpful. Thanks!

Lots of people have stayed at Cypress Pointe---a search should turn up plenty of recent reviews. They are generally very positive. CP is just north of I-4 on Apopka Vineland, very near DTD.

We stayed at Calypso Cay via exchange in 2004. We had a 2 bedroom
unit - HUGE living space!

Room was clean.

Jacuzzi in master bedroom.

Nice pools - you share 3 with the Country Inn and Amersuites hotel.

Main pool is a carribean theme, pretty warm but not as warm as
Disney Pools. Other 2 pools were a little cooler, but fine.
Good size outside jaccuzzi.

You can get the free breakfast in the Amerisuites hotel by getting a voucher from the Amerisuites front desk.

They have free mini golf, again get access at the Amerisuites.

Can get to WDW in about 10 minutes, MK in about 20.

Very nice facility in general.

They have an indoor basketball court too.
Plus, playground.

Let me know if you have more questions.

I have some photos available at

Thank you for the info kkleiner, great pictures. I see you're Red Sox fans, they are my DS's favorite team, even though we are from MD. I have read some reviews about locals sneaking into the pool area, did you notice any problems like that? Also, how far is the resort from other restaurants, shopping,...?

Hi...

Yup, RedSox fans we are. It's just silly how crazy people around here are about Theo leaving - my wife was shocked how the press conference was on all the channels as a 'special report' that day...I agree.

Anyways, I did read about locals coming in to the pools, but I wouldn't really know if they were locals or not - at least I didn't see anybody being very rowdy, etc. The pool is NOT locked though.

It's very close to many restuarants, etc. Rt 192 is right around the
corner - hard pressed not being able to find a place eat there!

A Publix supermarket is about a 3 minute drive - very nice to have that.

I think there is now a Walmart also about 5 mins away.

There is also a Disney character warehouse / discount store about 5 mins away.

Hope that helps.

We stayed at Cypress Pointe by Sunterra in March 2005. It was recently refurbished so very nice. Look on trip advisor for recent reviews.

My opinions.. we booked with hotel kingdom and paid 100ish for a 3 bedroom unit back then, I think they are going for 130ish now per night. Great location and easy to get to the parks. Within walking distance of a grocery store, I think Winn Dixie. Easy parking, no elevators so be prepared. Units very clean, well kept, 2 king beds and one room with twins. Bathrooms are nice with roman tub and jacuzzi jets depending on which unit. Mini-golf if you pay, not sure of cost since we didn't do it. Clean pools, volcano theme. We are going to the Grand Villas in a week so will scope out the other side, the properties are right across the street from each other and share facilities.
