Has anyone ever purchased a custom itinerary?

I notice a lot of the Disney influencers sell them for around $20-30 a day. Is this a pretty common/popular thing to do?

I just find it hard to believe a custom itinerary would be useful. Things break down, show schedules and hours change, rain comes, crowd levels are unexpected and behave in unexpected ways at times.

It’s better to have general tips that you can adapt around changing conditions like “either do all the dark rides in Fantasyland within the first hour the park is open or plan to spend 2 extra hours on them, and timing barely matters after that” and “if Disneyland is busy and California Adventure has meaningfully lower wait times in the app, park hop, your original plans be damned”

No. I don't even create a plan on Touring Plans. I'd rather just go with the flow and be ready to zig when the crowd zags without being tied to a minute-by-minute schedule - or ready to pivot if ride is down at the appointed time.

Back in the day, I used RideMax and loved the itineraries. Then, as I got more comfortable with the park and the Fast Pass system, I used RideMax to make a bunch of sample itineraries until I was able to create a chart of expected wait times for each ride all day. That allowed me to make my own decisions based on historical data and stay ahead of the crowds. But now, with the disney app and amazing resources like DISboards and Thrill-Data, it really isn't necessary. Although, I appreciate people using their talents as side gigs to make a little money. Some people don't have the time to research and plan. I happen to love that part.

I use touringplans to get an IDEA if my intinerary is doable and has the right number of attractions, and then I use it to get a general idea of the order that I should try to ride them in.

Then once I get to the park, I pretty much ignore the plans, other than to just use it as a quick check off list. it is rare that I am even close to the same order, because as others have said above, rides break down, etc.

$20 to $30 a day sounds insane.

I have also considered getting a personal itinerary because it felt so overwhelming coming back after a pandemic and first time with kids - BUT like others said, I found I could plan everything I needed on my own by asking questions here, watching youtube videos etc. One "influencer" actually sent me an example of what she includes in her itinerary and it was hard to see the value because it was like "at 9am get a genie+ for this ride and head to this ride" well, what if that ride is down, or what if there isn't a long line to justify genie+? etc. It was really just stuff that I could figure out on my own and it was hard to see the value.

You definitely don't need to pay for a plan. As others have said, there's so much information that you can find on your own. But the main reason I don't think it's worth paying for is because once you're in the parks it's really hard to stay on a plan anyway. If a ride goes down, or you notice a character you want to stop and see, or decide you want to get a snack, or any number of little things will throw the plan off. Some general helpful tips are:
~Rope drop.
~Choose your "Must do" rides ahead of time.
~Check restaurant menus ahead of time so you know where you might like to eat.
~Book dining reservations 60 days out if you want them.
~Check the entertainment schedule and decide what you want to see, such as a parade or World Of Color.
~Look at a park map to familiarize yourself with the layout if you don't know it already.
~Be prepared to go with the flow.
~Have fun :)

This was years and years ago, but I did pay for Touring Plans for my first Disneyland trip (2015), but it was less than $10 for a year long subscription. We told the app what we wanted to do that day, and then it created an itinerary for us. It was helpful for the first trip, but we didn't buy it again for the next trip.

The good thing about TP’s is you can ’re-evaluate’ on the fly.

Am I just downloading the wrong thing? I got the touring plans app awhile back but it seemed to only be WDW — do they have a DL one?

OR go against the flow. I've gotten a lot done when I was able to pivot and zig when I saw the crowd zagging. In some cases the crowd was just going elsewhere. In others, I'd get off whatever I'd gone to only to see a lot of the crowd lined up and/or regrouping because what they zagged towards was closed and they didn't want to wait.

Oh, I meant go with their own flow. Like, do whatever strikes their fancy instead of trying to stick to a plan.
