Has anyone ever left anything behind in their stateroom and gotten it back?

Last week on the 4/10 western, I left a bathrobe behind, probably hanging on the back of the bathroom door. It is not the end of the world if I never see it again, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this situation. Does DCL have a procedure for returning items left behind to guests?

Thanks!

DCL has a lost & found dept, they will give you the number if you call the cruiseline. If I find the number I will post it, but give them a call and they may be able to send it. Keep reading my trip reports and you will discover why I know this. LOL

I'm not exactly sure about the cruise line, but we forgot a dress and a pair of sandals at WDW's Contemporary Resort, didn't realize it until 3 days later, placed a phone call to the resort, and had them back home in 4 days!!I had offered to pay for the shipping and they said it would be all taken care of. It cost them almost $9.00 thru UPS and I didn't pay a dime. Give DCL a call and I am sure they can help you out!

I sailed in Decenber 2003 with my parents and nephew. My father surprised my mother with a new carat diamond in St Martin, so she took off her diamond and emerald engagement ring, and put it in the safe. When she emptied out the safe at the end, the ring box must have fallen to the back and she missed it. We called the terminal on the way home from the ship and they sent someone right to our room before boarding the next cruise and found the ring. They held it at the terminal for her to pick up because they live in florida. She didn't want them mailing her ring!

Must truly be "Disney Magic"!

Not in the room, but DD#1 left a sweatshirt in the theatre with the oceaneer's lab and didn't figure it out until over a week after we got home (it was July and she didn't need it until one cold morning...."where's your swim team sweatshirt?" "uuh, I think I left it on the ship..." ) I called DCL and they had it and mailed it immediately.
I am so happy they did, but one thing bugs me--her name was on the shirt--it was the second day of a four day cruise--you think they could have gone into the lab and said "is there a McConnell here who lost a shirt when we went to the theatre?" How many McConnell's can be on one cruise? Oh well, it was her mistake and not their job to fix it for her, but still...

As my BIL tried to call for transportation (it was late) after leaving the cruise terminal, he realized his cell phone was missing. My sister and I ran back in, we had to show id and our KTTW cards. We asked at the check in lines, they called to the dining room where we figured it was dropped. Our asst. serv., Ardi, had marked it as being left at our table number.

Thank god for Ardi, he saved the day!!!

I realized I left my complete make-up kit in the bathroom in the cabin when we were at breakfast the last morning....I ran back to the cabin but the room steward has already thrown it out....I was out of luck on that one.

DH left a brand new mickey mouse cap in the stateroom closet, we called the day after, and it was never turned in....I am sure with valuable items, such as the ring, they are quite good about making sure those items are taken care of, but I would imagine that items such as caps, clothing, etc are not given such a high regard.

We found a wallet in our stateroom with a $20 bill, target gift card and identification in it. It sooked like it belonged to a kid. We turned it into guest services..hope they returned it. almost wish that I had kept it and mailed it to the person myself.

Gotta give a shout out to the sweep they do on Castaway Cay. Last year's cruise had only one glitch: I lost my KTTW AND my driver's license. Don't know where, exactly, but it was SOMEWHERE on the island, since I remember buying a beer at Serenity Bay. Naturally, this could have been disastrous...how was I to fly home without any ID???

Of course, I went to Guest Services as soon as they let me back on the boat to report them missing (around 3 PM). Just after dinner, I stopped again, and the CM not only had my missing cards, but remembered who I was! (This is saying a LOT, as it was the night before disembarkation, and they had been swamped with people paying their tips.)

I think I'll just duct-tape them to my chest next month... :teeth:

We took our first cruise on the Magic in '99 and i packed a pair of black flat that still looked ok to wear but bought a new pair i liked better so i was going to wear the old ones and then dispose of them on ship. Well guess what happened i threw them in the trash and i guess they though it was a mistake because in about 3 days after our cruise i got them. They even sent them by Fedex. We still laugh about it today and when we take clothes or other last time wear items on our cruises we make sure to stuff them into the bottom of the trashcan. Ohh and just so i don't get flamed they looked nice on top but the sole in places was much to worn to wear to many more times.

We went on the Wonder Jan 29 - Feb 1 /04.

My daughter 17, misplaced her favourite sweatshirt somewhere. We had a cabin change so it might have been left behind in our origial cabin.

We checked at lost and found in the terminal and it wasn't there. We filled out a form with a detailed description. Still nothing.

A few weeks later I called DCL lost and found and told the lady what I was looking for. She said she would look and call me back.

Well, she called back very quickly, and said that she looked on our cruise date and several cruises afterwards but she couldn't find the sweatshirt.

So we are out one sweatshirt, but the DCL lost and found was extremely helpful in looking for it for us and getting back to us about it.

Here's a tip for this situation. We always take at least 2 Ids a piece. My husband and I keep our own drivers license then swap our military Ids. Chances of us both losing Ids are not as great, but just in case, we keep our passports in the cabin safe. How is that for paranoid?

Not on DCl but at Animal Kingdon Lodge..

2 years ago we were vacationing at the AKL and I had been in a full leg cast for most of the year. So when holidays came my cast tech would match my cast to the holiday colors, then my mother decided that she would paint my toe nails to match the holdiay colors... ( keep in mind I am an adult, so this was even funnier) Being that this was christmas time, she used Red & Greed nail polish to match my red & Green cast. We new that when we got home I had about 1 month and then a cast change so I threw the polish away in the trash.

When we returned home we had a very important message left by Disney " we left items in the room at AKL and they are fed-exing them right away". Fed-ex arrived and guess what they sent... The nail polish.. We laugh about that still, and now when we want to throw something like that away we always let the housekeeping staff know so it will not get mailed back to us.

It was very considerate of them to go to those means to send nail polish..

In our rush to leave the ship, we forgot a whole bag of NEW clothes that we bought in MK in the cabinet. We had a nice message on our answering machine when we got home that they had our items. The stateroom hostess brought them to lost and found and they FedEx'd them home to us.

I left my entire shoe bag at customs after our first cruise. Of course I packed way too much and had too many bags to keep up with. They fed exed the shoes to me. I thought my hubby was going to kill me. Lol! Anyway, I don't pack near as much anymore. :hyper:

My DS (11) lost his wallet with some money and a few gift cards on our August 2003 cruise. It had ID. I called the lost and found department, but they did not find it.

Just call dcl lost and found and leave a detailed message what you had lost. Thats what I did on My aug 2003 wonder cruise. My DD left her winnie the pooh backpack with cd player and cruiseline mini mouse in it at the breakfast table on the last morning.

Not only was it turned in, but they sent it back to me fedex no charge.

Great service!!

My then, 8 year old daughter lost her KTTW card (still in the pouch she wore around her neck) on the Disney bus that took us to the airport the last day. She cried and cried. At first we thought it was because she thought she would need it. We told her that it was ok because the trip was over and she wouldn't need it anymore. She kept crying because she had wanted to keep it to put in her scrap book. My husband and I debated for several minutes while we waited at the airport, whether to report it lost or not (let's face it, it's really a trival thing, not like jewelry or anything). We decided to at least make a report and my husband called from the airport to report it. He did tell the CM that we totally understood that it was probably not considered a high priority item to find but asked if they could look on the bus later. Both my husband and I knew that it was gone and tried to ease our daughters worry by telling her that she could use one of ours.
To make an already long story shorter, three weeks later we received an envelope from Disney Cruise. We were amazed to find that in it was my daughters pouch with her KTTW card and a nice letter apologizing for the length of time it took to return the card to my daughter.

We have always loved Disney, but they are even more endeared to our hearts for taking the distress and wishes of our young daughter about a simple KTTW card seriously and returning this item that probably cost no more than $1.00 but was priceless to her because of the memories. KUDOS TO DISNEY!!! :thewave:

I wonder if JoanB (who found a child's wallet with money and a Target gift card) was the one that found NYGiantsRule!'s son's wallet (money and gift cards inside)?
