Has anyone ever had Magical Express claim their bags from baggage claim?

We had a last minute switch of resorts (from SSR to Boardwalk) so I doubt we will get updated yellow tags in time for our trip. I've read that you can give the people at Magical Express your luggage tags and they will claim them for you from the baggage carrosel. I'm a little hesitant to do this because it just seems like an extra step or two for something to go wrong, but on the flip side, not having to schlep the bags is my favorite part of magical express. Has anyone ever had them do this? Does it delay getting your bags to the room significantly?

Thanks!

Do you have the same reservation number? If so, you have no problems. The bar code, on the luggage tags, will reflect the new resort. You can put a line through the SSR and put BWV above it. But be careful not to touch that bar code!!!
If the reservation number has changed, then you can either not tag the bags and get them yourselves, or give your baggage claim receipts to the DME folks upon checkin and they will send someone to get the bags from baggage claim and get them sent to the resort.
If your trip is more than 10 days out, you can call DME and have new tags sent..they need 10 days to print out tags/booklets and get them sent out.

If you do not use the yellow tags, the bags may go around the carousel in full view of the public a few times before a CM comes to claim them for you.

I still suggest drawing one line through the old resort name, etc. and writing in the updated information without regard to whether the reservation number is the same.

If scanning the bag into the system (using the original yellow tag) does not work, the CM at the baggage handling station will either call and find out, or send it off to the resorts and let the next person to handle the bag call and find out. If the CM goes by your written in information and sends it off to the resorts without calling, the bag ought to get to your resort quite expeditiously. It is still possible for the bag to go to the wrong resort but then your written in information will definitely be used from there to get the bag to the correct resort.

You should at least try to get updated yellow tags by calling Magical Express.

I would let them know when you check in about the tags. This happened to me a few years ago (last minute switch from Pop to CR) and I did the cross out thing as listed above. There was definitely a hold up in getting my luggage, but it did show up the same night. I am not sure it would have happened if I didn't alert them at check in, which generated some phone calls etc.

But if you are that worried, just don't use the tags and grab the luggage and bring it on the DME bus yourself.

We do have the same reservation number so we should be OK! I just assumed that the bar code was for resort, not reservation.

Thanks for all the help!

Last year I did not receive my yellow tags or my ME voucher. So, I had to check in at the ME desk, they checked that I was in the system, then asked for my tags that the airline gave. My luggage was delivered to my room 2 hours later.

So no worries.
