Has anyone ever had a window seat at CG for the fireworks?

If so, how did you pull it off? ANd at what time should you look to make your ADRs?

You have to be there when one becomes available. Luck of the draw.

There are a few seats in the lounge that are windowside. That's what I do now. No ADR needed. But it's necessary to go early and stay awhile.

So would 7:30 be a good time to go?

Depends. What time are the fireworks? Even then, there's no guarantee you will get a window table. You could say when you check in that you will wait for one, the earlier the better for that, but you may be in the situation where you have to hold the table for awhile if you go early and the fireworks are late. (I like the lounge because there's no concern there about table turnover. If you have a big party, the lounge may not work for you. It's good for solos or small parties who would like to eat there without having to make an ADR.)

We had a window table for it back in 2009. It was just my wife and I and we were celebrating our anniversary at that dinner. When we checked in we did mention to the CM at the podium that we were celebrating our anniversary and it would be really awesome if we could get a table next to the window with a view of the fireworks. She just said that they have a outdoor deck where everyone can go outside and watch the fireworks. We said we'd do that if we had to, but it would REALLY be awesome to celebrate our anniversary watching the fireworks from our table. She told us to have a seat at the bar and our table would be ready soon. When our pager went off we got our table and it was next to the window. I'm sure it was luck of the draw. But we did get these nice desserts:

Was there on 3/26/11 for a 730pm reservation. We did not get a window seat (I asked) but at a table right next to a window table. We also were seated closer to the castle, which was great!!!!

If you look at the overall number of tables, your odds are not that great.

In the past six years or so, I've dined there 4 times. Two were special occasions, and both of those I *politely* lobbied for a window table. I didn't get a window seat for either. The first time, surprisingly, MOST of the window tables were vacant. When I asked if we could have one I was told, "No, they are all for guests with special occasions." I said basically, "we a (VERY) special occasion too! What about us?" No go.

I had made those reservations FAR in advance. It was BEFORE the current promotion that have been doing the last few years where they ask EVERYONE if it's a special day. I mentioned it when we checked in at the resort, again when we checked in at the podium, and we made sure to arrive early. It didn't matter.

The second time was similar, except that I didn't bother asking once we were assigned to our table. ADR's made well in advance, during the promo, mentioned when I made reservation, at resort chekc-in, again at podium, and made sure to check-in early.

The most recent time we ate there, we got a window seat! It was RIGHT on the outer window with a nice view of GF, and a partial view of MK. When everyone stood up for the fireworks our view would have been partly blocked. It was summer and we left slightly before the fireworks, though we could have stayed for them. Here's the funny part - it was a last minute reservation! It wasn't anything special except a spur of the moment inquiry made around 3pm. We didn't make any special requests.

I didn't request a window seat but we did get one. It was my birthday.

I like the view out on the balcony better. We had a lot of glare on the window and a bit of fog.

We also like the view from out on the balcony better than the window seat. If you get a 7:30 ADR when Wishes is at 9, for example, usually by that time you are about ready for dessert. Going outside is a great chance to get some air, digest, enjoy the fireworks, then head back in for the last leg of your meal. We just didn't get the same feeling sitting by the window as we did being outside.

Yes. Last Nov, we were celebrating our honeymoon. We had 7:30 ADR's and requested a window seat at the podium. They gave us a pager and we waited about 5 mins. I was worried that we weren't going to get one because it was very full and it didn't look like there were any left. But when the pager went off they took us to a fabulous window view and there was Mickey confetti all over the table. I totally forgot that we had our "Happily Ever After" buttons on! :cool1:

In 7 dinners here, we have had window tables twice. Once was when we were on the Platinum Plan and we had the best tables at every restaurant. The other time was just the luck of the draw.

Been there twice for the fireworks. The first time we had a window table, luck of the draw. The second time, we were still waiting for a table and watched the fireworks out on the roof. I actually liked that view qiute a lot.

The fireworks go off at eye level. Really cool. I think it's hard ton have a bad view.

I get one each time I go there. The key is arriving 1.5 to 2 hours prior to fireworks and being very specific when you ask for a table.

I had window seats once, again, luck of the draw. Sadly, it was not all that great. There were kids that came right up to the window between my son and the window and did not even watch the fireworks, but prevented me and my son from seeing. These kids stood and fogged up the windows and then drew pictures, banged on the windows and sadly, were very, very rude with no parents around to intervene. This year when we go, I actually hope we do not get a window seat. That experience was a true disappointment. But we will still go to CG because it is great and hopefully that was an experience we will not have again.

:thumbsup2

I agree with this. When I made our ADR I did it via phone (not online). Not sure if the dining reservation agent made a note somewhere on our reservation to be seated next to a window (?) but I made sure I requested a window seat again when we checked in. It was great!

I say again, that's exactly what we did TWICE and did not get it.

The third time we got it by not asking at all.

3 of the 4 times we've been to CG, we were seated in the main dining room at the window. The first time, we were celebrating our engagement and were seated at a window. The second time, we were celebrating a birthday, and again, were seated at a window. The third trip, we were seated in a back dining room overlooking Bay Lake. It was small (maybe 5 or 6 tables) and we actually could see Epcot's fireworks in the distance. The last time we were there, we scored another window seat in the main room. We weren't celebrating anything...just lucky. I agree you should make your ressies for about 1.5 hours before the scheduled fireworks time and I think it may help if you're celebrating something and have it listed on your reservation as such.

Never ask--got one maybe 3 times in about 25 visits.
As others have said, it's nice. But we've found the view from the observation area to be just fine.
Plus we now always eat at the bar!!

Last time we went, it was noted on our reservation that it was our wedding day, I showed up in my wedding dress. (photos in the Jan. 2010 TR if you are interested)

We got a window table that night. :bride:

I never expect a window table again :lmao:
