I really never paid much attention to the offsite places but now I am kind of nosing around ;) ;) .

I DO love staying onsite but when AKL is in the 300 range and the Sharaton Safari is in the 30$ range it really has me thinking how much room/time am I spending at the resorts. A Diser posted a review recently with pic and I have to say I was impressed Mary's glowing report of the Caribe on her site also get me thinking....

Anyone else????

Nope, if I can't afford onsite then we won't go. I know many stay offsite and like it, but it's just not for us. We like to be totally submerged in the entire Disney experience and the only way to do that, for us, is to stay onsite.

I've always noticed the off-sites even when the codes come out. There are some very good rates and some of the places provide good transportation. We drive to Disney so actually transportation isn't an issue with us. Even when we stay on property, we drive to the theme parks. We have a 2,3 & 4 year old so it's easier than riding the buses.

Anyway, we've stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza (after the renovations) with a discount code from mousesavers and on their site right now, they have a very good rate of Caribe Royal Plaza (or however it's spelled). Plus, these rooms provided more space and accomodated 5 which is hard to find at Disney unless you want to pay premium prices. We could stay at PORS but we live in the south and when we've stayed there, we haven't felt like we even left home. Same landscape as we see every day.

We go so often that we stay on and off-site, just depends on the best price and options for what we want to do during that trip.

I've also been thinking about it so you're not the only one. I spent the whole day that the codes came out looking at offsite accomodations.

I think we are going to stay on site though.

First we really like the resort feel. We want a place where we can spend an entire day off at the resort and be able to relax and enjoy ourselves. That rules out a lot of offiste places, especially the lower price ones. I found one I liked that had dates open for our stay but it was up near Seaworld. I think it would be a hassle to be that far way. Also we would have to rent a car - a big one since there are 5 of us (3 adults) with luggage. It still ended up being quite a bit cheaper but after I weighed the convenience of being onsite and the magic feel, we decided to just stay where we are.

One off site place we've stayed at before is Gaylord Palms, it's right on Osceola Drive near the entrance to Disney. We got it at $90 a night on Priceline, and it is gorgeous.

I would do it again no problem. Driving is not that big of a deal.

With no APH available I may try the Gaylord Palms. Now that I try to avoid the EMH parks because of the crowds I don't care so much about being on site. We always drive so the transportation is not an issue. The only thing that is holding me back is the water parks. How bad would it be to be let in at 10 am in July?

OOPS the gaylord palms is booked for my dates.

We often stay in a pool home in one of the subdivisions just south of 192/Sherbeth road, even when there are discounts. We go in Peak season, so even with a discount, the rates are still pretty steep, and the pool home is less expensive still and has lots of extra room and amenities.

We also aren't big fans of the busses, so we would be driving whether onsite or off. It's faster to everywhere but MK, and I don't mind driving in new places. Of course, it's getting to the point where WDW is no longer "new". ;)

We purchase AP's every other year and that is our WDW vacation year.

I love to stay on-site, especially the Boardwalk Resorts  . However, I like visiting WDW alot too. Staying off-site allows me to get an AP and go three & four times in a year for the same price as once a year staying on-site.

So, I guess I go for the quanity vs. quality route :goodvibes .
