I dunno, maybe its me, but it seems that there has been a run on "bargains" i.e. 6.00 a pt,,,5.00 a pt...and mostly people with very little post "history". Now Im not saying that they're not legit, it just seems odd to me....a hundred people respond but noone ever seems to come out a winner (securing the deal).

While Im at it,,,(hate to waste a post) why do people rush to the rope drop to ride the dumbo ride? Also...what are the "special glasses" I keep hearing about (wasnt paying too much attention at the time) are they for Fantasmic? If so what are they for and where do you get them......Thanks MAE

I too would be very interested to hear from those of you who actually bought the $5.00 rented points. I hope it all works out (what a bargin for you guys!!) but there is a part of me that has to wonder if it's for real. (We did just have April fools days)

Actually, there is a post over on the Resorts board about the person who got the $5 ppt post. The post is something like "CRO cancelled my reservation". The girls name is Erika and her user id is something like TigLusPooh. I was really happy to hear she got this because she had a problem with CRO with a reservation at AKL. She now has a 2 bedroom at OKW.

Actually she thinks she has a 2 BDRM at OKW. Someone told her they would rent to her. As you say, it was someone with very little posting history. We won't know if she really has a reservation until she arrives at OKW to use it, or the original owner of the points sends a confirmation sheet.

With all the grief that poor woman has been through I hope that this rental isn't someones crummy idea of a joke or worse yet, a scam.

I guess everyone is familiar with my story on the resort board. I still don't understand why my reservation was canceled but luckily I checked the rent/trade board several times this morning in hopes of finding some points for our trip.

I emailed about the $5.00 points as soon as I saw the post and I was lucky enough to reach the seller pretty quickly. He emailed me with all his info... name, address, phone number at work, home phone, etc.... and then he called me at home and left a message on my voice mail. I returned his call and we had a very nice conversation about the points. He immediately called and booked the 2 bedroom villa and then called me back with the confirmation #. I called to confirm, and everything was just as it should be.

I think anytime you rent points from a stranger you take a risk. I am a very trusting person, and I believe that this man is totally legit and very nice.

As for the other post a few days ago, with the $6.00 points, I think it was a joke. I sent 3 emails and he never wrote back.

I happy for you Erika and hope all works out.....I DID notice that he responded to someone else's post and "j" had an email address from an educational institution (.edu) so it would be difficult for him, IMHO, to pull a fast one. SO have fun, glad you got a great deal!

Actually the $5 post struck me a legit because these points are expiring soon. This person is also renting some other points at $10 that don't expire as soon. Also, I noticed that he said he was on a temporay assignement which required him to be out of town. I can understand where he might just have to "dump" the things!!!

TgrLvsPooh - I'm SO glad for you. That is just great that it's all working out. Actually, it was the .edu email that worried me. All students at a college have .edu AND (at least around here) they can keep the email address for many months after graduating or leaving the university. I would have hated if it were a frat boy prank.

I have rented points from someone for a trip in 2 weeks - arranged the rental back in October. The person renting the points sent DVC's confirmation of the reservation (in my name) so that I could see it had been made. Obviously, that won't stop him from cancelling the reservation after I paid him, and if that happens, believe me, it will be all over these boards and I will be taking him to small claims court. I am now a DVC member myself, so I can call Member Services and give them the reservation number to see if the reservation is still active, to prevent the element of surprise once I get there.
