Our trip is not until 6/13 but I see that the online check-in is an option. I can not find any information as to when you need to do this. I'm just wondering if I could do it now and be done with it?

I never did the online check-in, BUT, at the airport, instead of getting inline, go to the kiosk machine and do your thing right there. It is so much easier and faster. You just verify your reservation info, it prints out a receipt and you go across the street to the parkade and pick out your car. Two years ago, I skipped the kiosk and went to the desk instead. The lady made a mistake and charged my credit card for 2 rentals. I didnt realize it until I went to make a purchase and my credit card was declined for suspicious activity. (2 rentals and groceries). The manager at Alamo got it all fixed in about an hour or so with my credit card company. It was a 3 hour nightmare but it taught me to use the kiosk instead. If any mistakes are made, it would be my own fault. But its so easy to do that it is hard to make a mistake. So, I dont know about the online check-in, but i do know about the kiosk. I think the online checkin may be the same as the kiosk. Check to see when is the earliest you can do the online checkin. But IMHO, I would wait until I actually arrived before doing any check-in, so the kiosk is better.

I would absolutely use on-line check in, if available. It's even faster than using the Kiosks. (Not to mention that on my last trip (April 30th) all the Kiosks were down so I had to wait 45 minutes in line.

Basically, you enter all your info -- name, address, drivers license #, credit card info -- accept/decline extra options and then print your paperwork. Once you get into MCO, you take that paperwork directly to the garage, pick out your car and stop at the booth on the way out where they will ask for your paperwork, credit card and driver's license.

Go for it!! (I can't remember how early you can do it, but I'm sure if you started the process, it would tell you if it was too soon)

See, you learn something new everyday. Thanks Mom2Mikel. Then if I rent from alamo this trip, then I will definitely do the online checkin before I leave from home for my flight. I never thought about the kiosks being down. So now I know its better for online checkin than the kiosks. Thanks!!!!

What happens if you check in online from home and then your flight is delayed or cancelled ? We have missed our connecting flight twice due to weather from California to Orlando.. they put us up in a hotel and set us up on the first flight out the next day :sad2:

Yeah it works great - like another poster mentioned it can save youa lot of time if the kiosks are down.......

I think technically your rental does not start until the person in the booth takes your info as you are leaving the garage. If that (delays) were to happen, I would just call Alamo and ask for their assistance.

I love the kiosk but love online check in more. :thumbsup2
