Has anyone done Ko'okiri body plunge at VB?

So, I might be going back to volcano bay in a couple of months and here's the thing. I have done every slide at VB except this one, including the 2 blue and green drop slides in the volcano, which I have no issues with at all. I don't know why, but there is something about this red straight down one that just TERRIFIES me. It is the only ride/water slide that I truly fear. I have no problem on any ride in Orlando, I have done the most extreme rides including falcon's fury at busch gardens, tower of terror, and mako at seaworld. I love thrill rides.

But every time I even just think of this slide, it absolutely terrifies me. I guess it's just the mental thought of the floor dropping and then dropping continuously for almost 200 feet and the suspense of it. Scares me out of my mind. But I really, really want to do it on my next trip there. Has anyone here done this slide, and can you tell me, honestly, how scary it is, especially compared to the other 2 slides from the volcano? Thanks

I did it when I was there 2 weeks ago. I must have swallowed gallons of water on the way down. Even with the instructions of crossing my arms and legs, as soon as the bottom opened and I dropped, I was flapping like a mad man. I sat and watched others do it later in the day and timed it at around 4 or 5 seconds from top to bottom but when you're shooting down, it feels much longer. Good to have done it but I preferred the other 2 more twisty ones.

I thought I read one of the twisty ones was considered more intense than the plunge? ‍:scratchin

The "scariness" is all in the suspense. When the floor drops, you are shooting so fast through so much water in your face that you can't see a thing, and it's over very quickly. You can't really process much on the way down.

Same as Jack, it was neat to try but not really worth the climb more than once. And quite a climb it is... The twisty volcano slides are more worthwhile.

Sounds and looks pretty much like Summit Plummet at Disney (besides drop door)... It's more about the lead up...once start going down the water spray from your feet just blinds you and then it's over. Sure son will want to try it anyway.

What are the drop slides like?

Excellent. Definitely worth doing anyway. As said above, the vertical drop one is a a bit overwhelming and I much preferred the other two.
Thanks. I don’t like slides that go straight down or that beat you up! Don’t want to need chiropractic adjustment after slide lol.

Bear in mind that I'm a guy in his mid 40's so my description of overwhelming might be totally different than someone in their 20's so don't be put off by my word alone. It was more the taking in water that was too much for me as opposed to any aches and pains on the way down. But as I said that was because I hadn't the ability to keep my arms and legs crossed!

I’m sure my daughter in her late 20’s will go on the straight down one! I’ll stay away from the extreme slides!
