Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Love seeing all the customized bands! I have no artistic ability so I'm thinking of having Justin do ours.

Couple of questions:
Can I have them shipped directly to him instead of me? It would save some time and I'd really like him to be able to send back to me instead of the resort like he offers.

And are there different sizes for kids' bands? I have a ds who is turning 10 on our trip and he def. needs an adult size band.

Thanks!

Ok, I'm 95% finished with mine, but just can't stand it any longer, so I'm posting mine! Mickey/Jack's collar is a little outta whack, but I'm pretty much out of time. LOL. I'll post the whole set when Minnie's bow dries!

Bumping to see if my post showed up...weirdness. Ok, gonna try to repost my band here. Will post my set later. So excited!!

I can't help you with your first question but I can help with the second: the bands come in one size. The grey part can be removed to make them child size.

I don't see why you couldn't ship directly to him. It would def. save some time, plus you wouldn't have to pay for shipping them to him. He can send them back to you instead of dropping them off at the resort, as long as there is enough time. That's what I wanted too. I think it just depends on his schedule and how many customers he has in line ahead of you. I would recommend sending him a message via etsy. He has been very good at communicating with me throughout the process and I'm sure he would be more than happy to answer your questions himself. Good luck! I think he is very talented and I can't wait to see my son's finished band!! I will post a pic. of it here when I get it. He is still working on it.

Has anyone used decorative duct tape to decorate bands? Wondering how difficult it is and how "finished" it looks or of I should stick to nail polish.

It is very easy to do and holds up very well. I posted a picture of my bands on page 133 and the one with Minnie Mouse is duct tape.
All you need is to cut the tape to the proper length then smooth it down with your hands and push the sides into the separation between the colored band and the gray strap, then use a box cutter ( I used an eye glass screw driver) to cut down in the grooves of the bands.
Early on in this thread someone else showed theirs down in a Hawaiian duct tape and she showed step by step pictures of how she did it. I'm not sure what page that was on though.

I'm baaa-ack!! And I'm done! Woohoo!! After painting a Mystique costume and 5 bands AND packing, I finally get to sit down a minute! They're not nearly as detailed as some of the amazing bands folks here have posted, but they're "us" :). Mickey Skellington is mine. I *heart* Halloween.

Love these!!! How did you do the Tinkerbell one? Is it a sticker? Looks great!
Aww, thanks!! I'm so happy you can tell who it's supposed to be! I just looked at several Tink images online, then practiced sketching her in silhouette on paper. Then I took a deep breath and did it on the band with a nail art pen. I wouldn't have been so hesitant except the green glitter polish I had didn't cover very well, and I literally had about 15 coats on there! Really didn't want to have to start over!! Thanks so much for the compliment :)

Can anyone advise on sealer? After acrylic paint, do you use base and then spray sealer?

That's AMAZING! Thank you for sharing your experience, especially that you had to do a few coats to get the glitter look, it is beautiful! DD is not sure if she wants Tinkerbelle, or a Peter Pan themed one, or just leave it green (:rotfl: she's not sure she can trust me!)

My mom wants a similar Peter Pan design and I'm so nervous about doing it lol. I finished all our other bands and I just keep staring at hers. Is the nail pen fine point? The only one I can find is marker/Sharpie size and its too thick to use. Thanks!

Yes, it's a fine point nail pen, but my Mickey Jack is done with fine point Sharpie for that reason. I didn't have any issues with smearing.

I've seen some phenominal art work on these bands! I've noticed that it loks like some bands have what looks like a gloss finish or laquer finish to them.

What is used to cover the paint or tattoos to keep them from peeling off?

Has any used spray paint or and air brush to paint the bands, or is it strictly nail polish?

Thank you for the reply and feedback!

For the folks that used nail polish - how did you keep it from cracking? My first attempt looked lovely but has hundreds of tiny cracks now.

I used clear base coat nail polish on mine ( pictured on page 133 ) none of mine cracked or peeled at all. I used temp tattoos on the 2 yellow ones and on one of them I put the base coat on first and the other I just put the tattoos directly on the bare band and both held up the same. I've done probably 3 coats of the clear base coat to finish on every band. Make sure you get BASE coat and not top coat!

I've used Sharpies on mine too with no issues of smudging or smearing even after being on my wrist all day at the parks in early September heat!!

Have you been using it? Have you used a base coat over the nail polish or a top coat? I have heard people say you need to use a base coat because the top coat caused cracking.
