Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Got our Magicbands in the mail today for our August trip.

Here is DS's(4) since he is Autistic semi verbal I added one of those temporary tattoos to his band. Picked the frog prince for "Disney's Princesses and the Frog". I cut the tattoo to fit within the color section of the band. I then put a coat of clear right under where I planned to put the tattoo. I let it slightly dry before applying the tattoo so to lock it in place so it won't peel. I didn't put a clear coat over it cause on test trials the phone number and such smeared so I just put some clear coat along the edges to make sure even more that it wouldn't peel. I'll take off the grey part to fit his arm better once it has fully dried.

Here is the progress of mine.

I picked a blue band to start with.
Used an empty water bottle to hold it with tape covering the grey parts.
Here it is after I painted with Del Sol Superhero nail polish.

Then with pink/blue glitter nail polish.

Gorgeous. I'm planning to use Del Sol on mine (buying on Alaska cruise later this month) and I'd love to know how it holds up once you're back.

Gorgeous & your idea of putting around a water bottle with tape on it is probably the most helpful information I've gathered from this thread. Thanks!

Wow!!! Even though there wasn't anything specifically Disney, just items that were colored similarly to different characters? I think maybe there were a couple ride or race ones that were pushing it a little, but the ones I bought weren't character specific at all.

I agree, the only ones j can actually see maybe being an issue are the princess silhouettes.. But other than that the designs were really just implying characters so idk what the issue was..

I'm looking through the thread and some people are saying that they use a nail base coat as a top coat? What's the reasoning behind that? :confused3

I haven't tried it yet (my bands won't come until November), but from what I was reading, the feeling is that the base coat is more flexible than the top coat. Using a top coat seems to cause cracks.

Ok so you're gonna know how much I pay attention when it comes to buying polish, but I thoufht a top coat was always clear and a base coat is the color? So apparently they make a base coat that is clear???? I feel so unfeminine LOL

The base coat is usually clear and it goes between the nail and the colour to protect the nail. :)

When doing your nails generally you apply a clear base coat then two coats of color which now sticks to the base coat (and comes off easier because there's a barrier between your nails and the color) then a top coat. Top coats are generally hard to give the nice shiny finish - using a base coat instead protects the color from damage but does give the hard finish that tends to crack when bent. HTH!

I can't believe I've lived 35 years and I'm just learning that I should do a clear base coat before the color! Thank you LOL! So will it say on the bottle of clear if it's the base coat or the top coat?

Any recommendations for acrylic paints? I've had the worst luck with clumping and cracking. I used nail polish for mine because I loved the tie dyed idea, but my nieces want more of a water-colored effect look that I just can't get with the nail polish. Not having much luck with the acrylic paints, but I think its the brands I've tried. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it was the store Justice for girls. It was not in a kit, just in a bin with other colors of polish. Good luck!

Thanks again. It took going to two locations (fairly near each other, and I was able to combine it with dinner with a friend) but I have a bottle of clear glitterly glow in the darkand blue glittery glow in the dark. I'll see which works best on the blue band.

That's great!!!

That is so great to know. After seeing this thread, I painted an old one that I had from last year and used acrylic paints. I was hoping that it would hold up. I will post mine later after I have replied to a few more posts. I am new here. Thanks!
