I'm thinking about a Disney Cruise for the family as an Xmas present for next year. We have the option of going during Spring Break but that would require flying to FL. My preference is to add it to the front of our annual trip to FW in August. The plan would be to leave VA. on 8/2, arrive at FW early on 8/3, cruise departs on 8/3 at 4pm, return to FW in the afternoon on 8/7, head home on 8/12, arrive in VA. on 8/13. Has anyone done something like this? Where do you park your rig while on the cruise? Can you park it in the large general parking lot at FW? On our last trip to FW we saw several TTs and MHs parked there for most of the week and I was wondering if they were cruising. Thanks.

Sure you can, just let front desk know so they can give you a tag to let security know your on the cruise & park in overflow lot. We just did this last week for 7 day western cruise a great time & are at the fort now, you will have a great time. Have fun. Fort is only about half full right now.

You can also park it at the port. $12/day for cars - $20, I think for RV's.

Or, you can do what we did -- stay the night before the cruise at the Radisson - www.radissonport.com - we got a deal for $99/night and they have FREE parking for the duration of your cruise and a FREE shuttle to and from the port. Made for an easy morning, 5-minute commute to the ship!

We didn't do FW, but in '06 we stayed at BWV for three days, took a three days DCL cruise ( or first cruise ever ) and then back to BWV for five days.

I have thought about your idea too, and called DCL to verify you can park an RV at the DCL parking lot.

Thanks for the replys. They certainly make my decision much easier. Nice to know I have the option of parking the TT at DCL though I'd prefer to keep it at FW.

Boy, I sure wish I was there right now. When we were there in August it was P-A-C-K-E-D. It was the most crowded we have experienced but still a great time.

A few years ago, we stayed in FW for 5 nights, then did the 3 night cruise then another 6 days at FW. We had a pop-up at that time and just left it at the campsite, we felt that it was easier to pay for a campsite than take it down and back up again. It was a great vacation, great cruise, and we got hookeed on cruising.

Our RVing/Cruise trip was this past May and was told differently by CM when I called the Outpost.

Our 4 day cruise left on Sunday, May 20. In April, I called FW and asked if I could arrive at FW on Sunday morning and park the RV in the big lot, then drive to the Port in our car and then check-in on Thursday for our 4 day stay when we got back. After checking, the CM told me I could not do that. I would need to have a Sat. night ressie and then get the tag on Sunday morning for the RV to leave it in the lot before we left for the port and then check-in again when we returned.

Maybe things have changed.

I'll bet if you talk to three different CMs you'll get three different replies. I'll just fax a letter to the head honcho and ask him/her to reply by fax. That way if I get any resistance I have a hard copy of what I was told.

We have not done this. Great idea though. Even better if you could leave your TT at FW and then book-end the cruise with stays at FW before and after.........

Hmmmmm......(thinking......brows furrowing......)

I definitely think you have something there..........

Oh yeah!

We wound up doing a FW arrival on Thursday then the DCL Cruise on Sunday and then another FW stay from Thursday to Sunday. Kept RV at site using DVC points.

Very nice. I'm mulling over coming in a day early, setting up camp and leaving the TT on the site. Unfortunately I don't have DVC points to use. I just have to decide if I want to spend the money for 4 days at the Fort I won't be using.

That is perfect. I am going to have to "borrow" that idea from you for a bit. We have family coming in from Europe later this year. They will be staying in Tampa briefly and meet up with us when we drive down from Houston.

This is going to be perfect! mwuah-ha-ha-ha.......

The cruise has been booked through Dreams Unlimited. I checked many sources and they do have the best price. Now all I have to do is book FW for a few days (haven't decided on how many yet) after the cruise and next year's annual Disney vacation is set. The hard part is going to be not telling the family until Xmas. I'm so excited I could plotz!

Good luck with keeping it a secret. I blow it every time. We are book-ending our Spring Break stay at SSR GV with a stay at FW (cabins this time). A nice way to break things up. It will also make it convenient to attend the HDDR.

When we do a cruise, it will definitely be thru Dreams Unlimited.

I hope you enjoy your cruise and stay at FW.
