Has anyone cancelled DDP and NOT regretted it?

We just returned from doing DDP on an 8 night trip, and we'll never do it again. I don't know if we have it booked for Thanksgiving or not (can't remember), but I'll be calling DVC Member Services in the AM to make sure that it's cancelled if it is on there. The food was SO BAD and the service was worse :guilty: DH and I were so bummed, because we really liked a lot of the places we went to on the DDP in the past. I won't regret cancelling the DDP off of every future trip from now on.

Wow, I am sorry you had such a bad experience! I did the free dining twice in the past couple of months (7 nights in August and 5 nights for our "girls trip" at the end of September). We had wonderful service and even better food.

We ate at Spoodles, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Kona Cafe, Coral Reef, Cape May Cafe, Raglan Road, Yacht Club Galley, Prime Time Cafe, and Ohana. With the exception of Cape May Cafe (for dinner - breakfast was great), we would not hesitate to go back. Details of the August dining can be found in my report on the dining boards.

As far as scheduling the order of attractions, I schedule which attractions the kids want to see and go to them first. Like the Dumbo rides line can be very long if you wait to the afternoon to go on it. So when mine were little we headed for it as soon as the park opened and then did all of the rides in Fantasyland. For early mornings only some of the attractions are open so it is nice to do thoses rides ASAP and then you can move on to other sections as they open. Teens like to head for Space Mountain and Tomorrowland .

You can deal with this a few days before you leave or even read material about it on the plane. Again I used the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World which you can find in any bookstore or again use TourGuide Mike which is online for under $20. I always tried to show up early and move through the Magic Kingdom because it is always so crowded. As I said earlier we relax when we are in Epcot. There are of course similar plans for AK and MGM. I only do them for the most important attractions to me and then relax through the rest of the parks.

THIS IS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU ARE CLOSE TO GOING NOT NOW:) :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

HAVE FUN PLANNING!!!

Chrissyk....what difference does it make if you are on DDP or you pay for it?? If the food is bad it is so, no matter which way you pay for it ! :confused3

www.tourguidemike.com is a much better way to set your park plans fast! He will tell you which parks to go to and which to avoid. I buy his plan each year just for this advice. It is so much easier than plugging in crowd levels yourself and figuring out which park has early or late extra hours and then figuring if everyone is going to be at that park. Tourguidemike will tell you each specific day ( ex November 19th) you are there what parks are a go or a no! You can figure you schedule out very quickly and not worry about looking up all that other stuff like park crowd levels. He does all that for you:)
