I was hoping to book one, but there are no tables available. I'm wondering (hoping) that although the date looks available to book if it just hasn't been loaded yet. Has anyone here had luck?

As a 2nd question, assuming that I don't get the reservation, how early should I plan to find a spot for the 11:50 fireworks showing?

I just booked last week for our date (December 20). I have observed that they've been rolling out the dates 1 or 2 at a time this year for December for some reason. I don't remember if they've done that in the past or not, I'm thinking that the 30th will show up soon as an option for you. :)

We did this in 2017, just needed 2 spots, and got a the spots 1 week out (had to go look for CC statement lol!) It was sold out but spots do open up, probably helped that only needed 2.
It was COLD that night, totally worth having a spot to sit out of the crowds.

None of the NYE stuff has been released yet - note these are usually specific "dining" events for NYE and may not be included in the usual dessert party listing (maybe - I can't remember if they were or not). There will be 2 times listed one for the earlier show and one for the midnight countdown (same as on the 31st)

I believe they open 180 days out - is that still correct?
Mostly - the NYE parties are “special” and don’t count as the regular parties but will be announced with the NYE events. Disney typically tries to do this at 6 months out which is this week but not always but it will be “soon”
Only advice I can offer is keep watching the boards here or online for the announcement that they’ve started.

Thanks for the info!

Tacking onto the fireworks discussion, are the early and late shows the same fireworks or different?

This seems to happen every year. It's always a crap shoot as to when booking opens up, and instead of saying they haven't opened yet, it says there are no tables available, so you end up thinking you've missed the boat and having a nervous breakdown thinking of having to battle the crowds. Why Disney, why can't you just make it easy for us? In 2017, the dates didn't open up until August. Last year, it was July.

There is no consistency year to year on this, but last year the MK dessert parties were bookable on 12/30 & 12/31 at 180+10 days out:

People booked these fast and if you weren’t paying attention, they were gone quickly. Reservations actually being available 180+10 days out caught people off guard.

It does seem like things aren’t loaded this year yet.

Usually the early/7pm show is holiday wishes and for the last few years they added on a “stripped down” version of the countdown fireworks (not all the perimeter fireworks and no lagoon fireworks at all) - there’s a new holiday fireworks show this season but I presume it’ll still work the same.

The later fireworks show is the actual NYE countdown show with fantasy in the sky.

FYI, the PP above provided some slightly outdated info. For 12/30-12/31 in 2017 and 2018, both 6:30pm and 11:50pm shows on both nights were the Fantasy in the Sky show with a new year countdown tag ending. It was the exact same show all four times.

The only difference in shows is that the 11:50pm version on both nights is a "360 degree" show, meaning they utilize the launch point in the middle of the Seven Seas Lagoon which simulcasts the large fireworks shot from the primary/traditional behind the MK launch point. This mainly has more benefit for those at the MK resorts than those in the MK, generally speaking.

For 2016 and earlier they did the Holiday Wishes/new years ending tag thing for the early show.

thanks - I hadn't caught last years fireworks and just presumed they did the same thing.

What link do I use to watch for this 12/30 or 12/31
dessert parties? I didn’t see the dates illuminated at all...only to 12/27 so I must be using the wrong link.
Thanks tons!

You need to have a resort reservation with a +10 window right now to see that far out right now. You can see through 12/27 since that’s 180 days from today.

If you do have a resort reservation covering 12/30 & 12/31, make sure you’re logged in and search on one of the dessert party pages, like this one for the Plaza Garden Viewing: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/d...d-terrace-fireworks-dessert-party-plaza-view/

Or this one for Tomorrowland Terrace viewing: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/tomorrowland-terrace-fireworks-dessert-party/

Thank you for the links! I’m able to see the dates now since my window opened. It’s saying “no times available.” Does anyone have Dec. 30th officially booked or have they not been released?
Thanks!

I have not seen any confirmed reports yet. It’s remotely possible they were booked quickly, but doesn’t seem logical based on what happened last year (especially for the plaza garden version). My hunch/guess is they just aren’t loaded despite being ‘blue’ on the reservation page.
