Has anyone bid on and won furniture from Ebay?

I am considering bidding on a piece of furniture from ebay.

It would need to be picked up from the seller - ~2 1/2 hours away.

Getting it shipped to our home is not an option - per the seller's shipping instructions. It would need to be picked up.

I would never bid on this if it weren't a great deal. But I am curious if anyone has any good or bad experiences with this type of situation. Or if anyone has any advice- it would be appreciated.

I have bought furniture on eBay - two formal chairs for my living room (I got a GREAT deal on them!) and a padded piano bench. I have been very pleased. However I did have them all shipped to me. If the 5 hour round trip drive isn't a problem for you (factor in the cost of gas and your time when you think of the total price) then I would go for it. I would certainly first check the seller's feedback and I think I would not go to a stranger's house alone to pick it up. Call me paranoid - I'm sure the seller just wants to unload the furniture and make a buck, but one never knows...

I haven't bought furniture, but I have sold some small pieces which I was able to ship.

Like someone already said, just check the seller's feedback and make sure someone is with you when you pick it up.

I bought a bed. Not the mattresses, but the frame. Great deal. It was cherry wood and a king sleigh bed for around 900.00 plus 100.00 for shipping. Around here, the same bed would've cost me over 1600.00.
