Thinking of going here for a weekend. Anyone ever been there or live near there??

Thanks,
Kamy

We drove to the American Club this past Labor Day weekend and stayed two nights using DVC points. We enjoyed it very much - it is a beautiful resort - the landscaping was very pretty when we were there. If you enjoy golf, there are a couple courses that looked great, but also have a nice pricetag to go with them. One of the two is on Lake Michigan.

I checked with both the front desk staff and one of our waiters and they said that they get a few DVCers there each week. I was kind of surprised because I haven't seen many posts about the American Club on this board.

We would definitely go back and it is nice to have one of the Concierge options within driving distance. Let me know if I can answer anything specific for you.

I'll be curious to see what other replies you get.

Kamy....That's a place that dh has been dying to go too....wouldn't that be cool to go at the same time???? I don't think we have any points left to do that immediately but how funny if we ended up there at the same time!!!! Have fun trying to plan!!!

We stayed there last Labor Day, although not on points. It is a world class resort, to be sure.

One of the things that is nice is that the Kohler Company has a private nature preserve in the area. Access to the grounds is normally strictly limited to members, but they allow hotel guests to purchase a day pass. The preserve had hiking trails through the forest, and the forest was full of deer. It was totally silent during the walk, and the whole thing was very cool. There's a lodge in the preserve that served an outstanding lunch, and a skeet shooting range if you're so inclined (we weren't). It was well worth the money, which was under $10, I think.

What else... The resort had a terrific Sunday brunch, and a gazebo in the center of the courtyard serves as a combination coffee shop & ice cream parlor. The town of Kohler is amazingly nice (DW: "I bet they don't have a gang graffiti problem here!"), and a tour of the Kohler Design Center is a real blast. You'll never look at bathrooms the same way again after the tour!

Thanks for the input. We often travel to Milwaukee to visit my wife's family and have thought of using some points at Kohler as well:) :)
