Hi guys! Considering a trip to Port Aventura and would love to hear from anyone who has been there! What was it like? What time of year did you visit? How were the crowds? Would you recommend it?

We went last year, end july start August. We really enjoyed it. The rides are brilliant but not many for younger kids. My dd5 rides nearly everything in florida but in Port Aventura there were loads of rides that she wasn't tall enough for. Some of the shows were really good too.

The park was really busy and for some rides the queues were well over an hour some closer to 2 hours. You can buy an express pass but we never, think it was quite dear and we had a 14 day pass so went back some evenings to get on rides that we struggled with during the day.

We never stayed at an onsite hotel but did look round one and it looked really nice too.

We would go back again but wil wait until dd is at least 7 so that she is big enough for most of the rides

We went september 2008, seems like a long time ago but I don't think much (apart from an additional on site hotel) has been added. We stayed on site and really enjoyed it. I did a little trip report. Here it is.

been twice. went back last year at the end of July and found it to be exceptionally expensive. as it was so busy we did pay for the fast pass tickets. We have a place in Spain and drive there so the actual travelling does not cost as any extra as we stop over on our way or on the way back.

the on-site hotels are very expensive compared to the last time we stayed due to the very poor sterling exchange rate.

Back to WDW this July and Disneyland Paris in October. Not sure i would visit this park again even though very convenient for us to get to. Not a patch on Disney if that is what you are used to.

Boyfriend and I went in May 2007. Really liked Port Aventura, however, felt Salou itself was a bit boring :confused3 We couldn't really find much to do.

Park was quite busy, however, we found if we went first thing in the morning and then left at lunchtime a few days we got everything done.

Furious Baco = one of the best coasters I've been on! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for all your replies! Has anyone tried the new Cowboy themed hotel yet? I though this would suit my son (9)! How does it compare to DLP?

hi
we went to portaventura last year in may, generally overall we had a good time although there were a few issues,
the pool was freezing ~ not heated at all and had a bizare arm band policy, it was pretty desserted the whole time even though it was quite warm the pool was freezing.

the beach club was not open even though it was meant to be~ we were gutted it looked great.

the buffet reasaturant was good but a bit of a free for all...lol but were used to eating that way we eat at a lot of buffets in america, make use of the dine around vouchers and visit other places .

the check in que is a nightmare , they never give you your room early even though the flight gets in in the morning, it wasnt even ready at check in time!

its an easy walk into salou and a lovely beach~ theres this little land train you can get from entrance of the park.

We saw the new hotel being built, and have friends that stayed there, apparently the bungalows are best avoided, in the woods crawling with spiders and not very good, but they got moved to lucys mansion and it was good, even had its own brakfast reasturant and pool, bizarely i think the hotel overlooks a graveyark, to do with the theming of the hotel i suppose but freaked there kids out bigtime....lol

wed def go back though, i bet its busy in peak periods though......best bit 2.5 hour flight! ...lol
