Has Anyone been to Lilydale?

I've gone about 8 years ago, the first year DH and I were together. We spent the day exploring the grounds and going to the free public readings/lectures.

I've always wanted to return and have an actual reading. I'm thinking of going with my mom in August.

I'm trying to see if I'm "drawn" to any of the particular mediums there. Based on their websites there are a couple people I feel more of an affinity to than others...but it's still kind of a hard choice.

If you've been there recently...have you had a reading? How was your experience?

I just feel it's time to go. It's hard to explain. DH's mom passed about 3 years ago and we're seeing this skinny robin in our yard that doesn't run away from the kids...just sits there watching us. When we're out playing it sits on our fence or even comes within a couple feet of the kids and doesn't flinch when they approach it. Even looking out the window, I'll see it on a telephone line. I feel like it's the same bird because I find a skinny robin unusual.

Anyway this is freaking DH out, he thinks someone is sick or going to die...usually I'm the morbid one and I wish he'd take this bird as a sign of comfort. DH doesn't want a reading, but he supports me going to see if I gain any type of understanding or peace or whatever.

So there's my rambling for the night. Feel free to discuss medium readings, signs from beyond, intuition, etc...

I just saw a documentary on this on HBO, and would love to visit. I was on the website. Hope others with respond.

I saw the documentary also, and (jmo only, I'm sure others have other favorites :goodvibes) if I was going the two mediums who impressed me in the show and that I would choose would be Gerta Lestock (the lady who always had the dog with her) and Anne Gehman (the lady who loved pink):

I forgot the name of the lady who came as a visiting medium later in the show (who wore the highest heels and could hardly walk in them ) but she seemed gifted also.

And forgive me because I also can't remember the name of the man who talked to the girl who lost her fiance, but his prayer at the beginning seemed so "canned" and insincere that he turned me off from his reading.

Since I live fairly close I guess I should look at nearby Cassadaga, FL, as they are supposed to also be a spiritual setting:

Thanks for the replies. I did not see the documentary as I don't get HBO. I did read the Christine Wicker (I think that's her name) book. She had a bit of a skeptical viewpoint but that didn't bother me.

I have been to Lily Dale numerous times - it is a great place. I have not been for at least 15 years though, and didn't see the documentary, so I'm not sure which mediums I was familiar with would still be there. If you feel drawn to it, you should go for sure. The old growth forest surrounding the town is so peaceful to walk through, the lake and swans are beautiful, and the focus of all the healers and mediums who work there, and of everyone who comes to visit, is on peace and healing, making it a very calming and healing place to visit.

I have also been (once) to Cassadaga. It is more... upscale? I liked Lily Dale better, personally.

I didn't realize that anyone outside of WNY had ever heard of Lily Dale. Your thread title caught my eye because of that :goodvibes I've never been, even though I used to live even closer than I do now. I love it when people talk about WNY, though.

(Of course, my thoughts about the robin is that he's hungry and you should feed him :) )

I watched some of the documentary and looked up Lily dale. I think I'd like to visit sometime as I've also got somewhat of a 'connection' with people and I'd love to meet some people who have developed their gift. Also, if my passed family would like to speak to me(my Dad already has and appeared too) then I want to speak to them.

Haha I actually am from WNY. When I filled out my profile I put NY as that's the state I live in, I just didn't get more specific. I guess people seem to think I'm from NYC but nope...I'm in Buffalo :)
