Has anyone been to Inventions recently?

I have never been there and really wanted to try it (weekday evening, not the Sunday brunch) but recent reviews suggest it's really gone downhill and that the selection of food was poor compared to in the past. So I was wondering if anybody had been in the last month or so and is it any better?

We were there last Wednesday.

I thought the food was really good, most of us are big fish fans though.

My mother in law was with us and doesn't eat fish, she really enjoyed her food as well, think she had a selection of meats and salad stuff to start, a beef dish and pasta for her main and a selection of puddings.

I didn't think the sweet selection was as good as I have seen before but what I had was lovely.

We didn't go on our last trip as I thought the character interaction was lacking, I don't think we saw more characters this time but the ones we did see we're great, especially tweedle dum, he was hilarious....:rotfl:

We love our fish too! I'm really not sure what to do - maybe we will do Cafe Mickey instead... I definitely want one character meal and the draw of this one was the food - whilst I'm happy to pay for it if it's as good as the photos I've seen in previous years, I don't really want to pay ££££ for a poor selection. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it though!

We did cafe mickey, inventions and cowboy cookout last week, character overload!

Inventions was best for food. Cafe mickey for characters. Cowboy cookout was great for lunch. The food in cafe mickey was ok but if you are a big fish fan, I would say inventions is the better choice, if basing your decision purely on the food. We were a 8.30 reservation, we are normally much earlier and there was still loads of choice.

Ps- I have always enjoyed the food at inventions, never once experienced a lack of choice, it was the lack of characters or decent interaction that put us of it for a bit. for all I said I didn't think the selection of sweets were as good that probably translates into there was none of my favourite chocolate mousse. I had a lovely mango sponge thing and a meringue pistachio toe thing!

I'm doing normal dinner, Halloween brunch and character Sunday brunch next week. If that's still early enough for you I'll be happy to do a detailed comparison with side by side pictures. ;)

We went in September I think the food is really good there. Yes the deserts arent what they used to be :( they still had crepes and Gateaux which is good enough for me :D

Character interaction the characters we saw they were great we were disapointed we never saw Mickey even though he was around.

Oooh, Vala, that would be fantastic!!! Don't worry about the side-by-side comparison, but some photos of the normal dinner would be brilliant - thank you so much!

It's interesting that a few of you mention the character interaction as being a low point. I had assumed that character interaction would be the same at each character meal, which is why I was basing my choice on the food. But it's for the kids really so the interaction is far more important than the food.

Never seen it before but my impression is that it's not really worth it unless you're a Michael Jackson fan and it's possibly a bit scary for a 5yo. Anyone agree or disagree with that?

Rec. Captain Eo comment - oops, I thought I was starting a new thread, sorry! Ignore me! :rotfl:
