Has anyone been to Cypress Gardens recently?

DH and I went years ago before their financial troubles and buyout. We though it was such a pleasant get away from the hustle and bustle on the Orlando theme parks. We are thinking about going again but looking at their website it looks like they've added roller coasters and a water park.

Are the gardens still there? Is it more like an amusement park now? We have kids who are too small for big coasters but would probably like the water park, especially if it isn't as crowded as the ones in Orlando.

Does anyone have recent experience and opinions?

We stopped there about a year ago when they had the free passes if you had an annual pass to another park. We were on the way north, so didn't stay long. The rides were pretty unimpressive. I think our 7yo rode two.

The gardens are still lovely and we got lots of nice photos. I would go back if the price were low, but I wouldn't spend a lot.

Cyress Gardens still has the gardens and green spaces. The rides are not the big park type but still fun for the kids. Tickets (good for two days) are $34.95 or $29.95 for seniors and kids. You can get coupons etc. which get you better than these. The concerts are good and free with admission although reserved seating is extra if you want. www.cypressgardens.com

We just went to Cypress Gardens this past Friday. It is very laid back and very little traffic. We enjoyed a very easy day looking at the gardens, etc. The rides are for younger children but it could be nice as there are no lines and kids could just ride their favorites over and over.

You need to have low expectations and just be looking for a lazy uncrowded day to enjoy this park.

with 3 kids: DS - 7, plus the neighbor's kids who are 6 & 9. The kids loved it! Very little waiting time and lots of things they could ride. The 6 yo girl still didn't like the roller coasters - too fast, too scary. They boys loved them. There were lots of other rides that they all enjoyed. The gardens are nice and the water park very cute. If your kids are younger, or less brave, they will have a blast. (We thought it was kind of like a very nice carnival, but the kids really enjoyed it.)

Hope this helps!
