Has anyone been shutout of Christmas 2009?

Since the change in the 7 day ressies policy (no more day by day), there was a lot of talk that this time is the test to see if the new system works. We are planing a Christmas trip in the future so I am looking to see if people walked ressies, got shutout......whatever.

We just booked without any problems. Checking in Dec 25th, checking out Jan 2, VWL 2-bdrm. It's 8 nights, called on Sunday Jan 25th - got the first 7 nights, then called yesterday (Jan 26th) and added the 8th night. No problems.

I was kinda concerned also, but decided to try booking it the right way and not walking a reservation. No problems, everything worked out fine.

Except, now we have to wait 11 months

Just got our 2 bedroom BW view today for 12/27 to 1/1. Worked WAY better this year. Last year when I had to call day by day, I got BWview, BWview,
Poolview, BWview, BWview! Yep the day I had to call for NYE, I got in by
9 09am and ALL BWview were gone! So I had to make a decision to either wait list or just change all our days to Poolview. I did not want to change rooms by risking the waitlist (I knew it would never come thru).

So today, with the new system, I got all 5 nights BWview. I can see where
the new system is better for resorts with all those different views & points.
Especially during busy times.

BUT on the other hand, by the time that ressie was done, I tried to book a studio Standard view for 12/27 and could not get one! Did not ask about any other size standard rooms as I am out of points at BWV.

I will be calling tomorrow to try for WLV studio for 4 nights 12/28 -1/1 and
to be honest, I am pretty scared I won't get it. This is for our friends.

Ditto. I called today and got AKV Savanna Studio -Kidani village for Dec 27th to January 1st. Called at 9 ressie was complete by 9:10.

That's exactly what I was thinking!! I was so excited that we got our reservation without a problem. I logged into the website just to make sure it looked correct and then I was like, hey, this stinks...that's 11 months away!!

We are booked in a 2 bedroom at Old Key West December 25 and 26 and a 2 bedroom at BCV December 27 for 7 nights. We'll be trying to switch to VWL or AKV those first 2 nights at the 7 month mark. Yeah right, I know.

I just called about 1130, and was able to book a 1BR Concierge for Dec 27-Jan 2. We weren't planning on going this 'Christmas' holiday. I just happen to call to reschedule a ressie for this summer, and decided to check. As we weren't able to get ressies for last year same time, after witlisting for 10 months. I was quite surprised to hear it was still available. It was a great consolation prize for having to cancel our concierge stay July 26-31, and concierge not being available for early July. So, now I have to tell DH what I did! Wish me luck!

I was happy with the new system and surprised I was able to get a 2 bedroom standard view at Boardwalk 12/26 and checking out on 1/2. Looking forward to spending New years eve there.

called 11 months, 9 AM, got a VWL studio 12/22 -25. I was worried that I would be out of luck from those booking a full week starting Sat or Sun--esp. since sun/m/t/w are all at 12 poin and it is such a small resort! But I got it!

I called Sunday morning, right at 9 AM. Got in right away and no problems with making the reservations at VWL (studio). I was very worried, since I know this is such a busy time of year.

That's what I was thinking! He really wanted to go last holiday and he really wanted concierge, so why not. And if I passed it up today, who knows if I'd be able to get it back later. I'm just a little nervous since we're going on so many trips this year.....but, hey its a chance I was willing to take! Wish me luck1

Called today (1/27) and booked 3 Studio at AKV-Kidani Standard View for 12/27/09 to 01/01/10. Called right at 9:00, got right through and am taken care of for this Christmas. Next trip after this will be in June, so much lower risk, before going back for New Years in 2010 which will be another risky attempt.

Called today (1.28) and got a dedicated studio, savanna view at Jambo House (my request--I have friends staying at AKL that week) for December 28-January 2. Got through to by 9:02 and was off of the phone by 9:20. It only took that long because I had questions about my banking window.

I was so geared to have to do waitlist etc. because of New Years Eve but it worked like a dream and Peyton -- our member services person--was wonderful!
