Has anyone been to Disney recently? We are normally frequent Disney-ers. We were supposed to go last august but pandemic happened. I have to decide by end of today if we still want to go through with this august, staying at the cabins at fort wilderness. Im still on the fence. I want to go so badly but I’m conflicted if it’s worth it if it’s not the normal Disney we are used too. So I was looking for some insight on anyone who’s been recently? Thanks in advance!
I haven't (I'm in the trip-planning process for next year), but plenty of other people have! Check out the
Trip Reports forum on these boards for a lot of stories, anecdotes, and pictures of people's recent Disney trips.
There's all kinds of other conversation around the boards about the pros and cons of going right now, too, so go ahead and skim the threads in the Fort Wilderness and Parks forums and such.
Since you're trying to decide quickly, though, here's my overall impression, and maybe others can add theirs: Most facilities are back to "normal" in the recovering-from-pandemic sense, with some exceptions (character meet-and-greets, most shows, a handful of restaurants, FastPass+, etc.). However, prices are the same or higher than before, crowds are up, and discounts are scant, so the value-to-cost ratio right now isn't what you might be used to. Whether the downsides are worth the trip will probably depend on what you most enjoy about going and whether the things that are missing would've been the things you were looking forward to most. If you go mostly for rides, shopping, and the restaurants that are now open (the ones that are still closed are mostly the signature dining), and you're not too concerned about long lines, then you may be in the camp of people who will still have a great time!
