I have a "general" cruising tip, especially so if you have a special needs family member...go on a short one first.
We went on a 7 day cruise for our first one and I found out, I am NOT a sailor. I had terrible sea sickness the entire time (I've been on lots of boats and never had trouble, but never more then a day on a boat) and I have some sleep issues and I was constantly startled awake when the ship moved at night. 100s of times...it was terrible. So I was nauseated and exhausted the entire time. I really wish we had just done a 3 day to check it out.
My poor family want to cruise again, everyone else loved it. They said they could hardly feel the boat moving except when we hit rough water. I sure could!
